To celebrate 20 years of PowerSense, in October 2009 FortisBC asked customers to exchange their old light bulbs for free, and exchange they did. Despite rain and long line-ups, over 4000 people made the switch.
The goal was to exchange 20 thousand light bulbs in 20 days, but by the end of the month, over 27 thousands light bulbs were exchanged at 25 locations throughout the South and Central Okanagan, and the Kootenays.
Once all the light bulbs are installed, this will result in enough energy savings to power over 200 homes for a year.
