My Daily Blog is at: *******investorandtrader.blogspot****/ My channel at BlogTV is: *******www.blogtv****/People/Airelon Do you hear that sound? That's the sound of a rate cut that has been completely, and utterly wasted. All Central Banks have cut the rate. Just one hour later? The market has completely discounted that move, and continues to move lower in premarket. Don't pull this band-aid off slowly. We've reached a point where the pain needs to be sudden, and sharp ... BY MIKKEL NOEL LANZKY ANA COMPAIN-ROMERO Silvio Berlusconi is still Italy’s Prime Minister. Berlusconi narrowly survived the latest vote of no confidence Friday, but dissatisfaction with the controversial politician is vocal and widespread. euronews reports: “Even some MPs from his own side reluctantly supported the government while openly criticizing Berlusconi’s leadership. Berlusconi had squeezed by the finish line by 316 votes to 301. He was forced into having the vote after a routine budget measure failed to get through earlier in the week.” While the Prime Minister shrugged off the failure as a misunderstanding, Berlusconi will face difficulty governing the country through its current dire, economic straits. An editorial in Italian newspaper Corriere Della Sera put it this way: “The anxiety and fatigue of the ruling majority does not point to any revival. If anything, it increases the sense of a government limping towards the terminus, hoping to make it to the end of the year without being forced to stop earlier.” Although nobody seriously expects a member of the G8 to default, Italy’s economy is bad. The country has had no growth in the previous decade, and its debt is now among the world’s highest, at 120 percent GDP. Irish Radio & Television gives us a look at the bleak future: “Italy's central bank today warned of a possible credit crunch as market tensions increase bank financing costs and said growth slowed in the third quarter as gloomy Italians spent less.” According to some, Berlusconi’s leadership is part of the problem. NPR quotes business reporter Stefano Feltri saying: “Berlusconi spends more time in the court or trying to escape from court to be a real prime minister. Berlusconi is one of the reasons why financial markets don't trust Italy, because they say that he's doing nothing and he's not understanding the crisis.” Even though Berlusconi’s troubles are far from over, he has shown extraordinary ability to weather both scandals and political storms. Friday’s vote of no confidence was the 51st time Berlusconi faced such a measure, which might be a world record. Transcript by Newsy.
