For the HSC Chemistry syllabus dot-points: “Perform a first-hand investigation to prepare and test a natural indicator” and Solve problems by applying information about the colour changes of indicators to classify some household substances as acidic, neutral or basic”. We crushed some red cabbage immersed in ethanol to extract the anthocyanin. This purple solution was applied to several household solutions varying in pH and the range of colours were analysed according to the known acidity / basicity of the solutions tested.

Part 1 of 2. For the HSC Chemistry syllabus dot-point: “Perform a first-hand investigation and solve problems using titrations including the preparation of standard solutions, and use available evidence to quantitatively and qualitatively describe the reaction between selected acids and bases”. This experiment is important because it is one of the most commonly chosen experiments for Prac Exams. Prac Exams could come any time throughout year 12 – but most of the time they occur as part of your trial HSC exams, and usually worth around 20% of total internal assessment. Therefore it is important to pay close attention to proper titration procedure and understand the underlying processes of neutralization reactions. For this titration, our unknown was a solution of NaOH (the analyte) and our standard solution was oxalic acid (crystals in dihydrate form) – the titrant. Glassware was rinsed properly with either deionised water or with the solution it was to contain (conical flask, volumetric flask – water / pipette, burette – solution). A total of 1 ‘rough titre’ and 3 accurate titres were done. The average of the 3 accurate titres were recorded and used to finally calculate the concentration of the unknown NaOH. Our indicator was phenolphthalein due to its slightly basic endpoint (the titration was between a strong base and a weak acid, therefore the equivalence point would be slightly basic). Tip: If required to make your own standard solution, make sure you design your standard solution so that it was enough moles for you to do 3 titres.

*******chemin10****/ Chemistry Tutor - Learn Chemistry Quickly and Easily with the Right Chemistry Tutor The right chemistry tutor may be the key to your child's high school success. Sooner or later, your child will take high school chemistry, a required course that every college-bound student needs to master. Unlike his/her previous high school classes, however, chemistry may pose a new challenge to your student. Though your high school student may have excelled in science since grade school, chemistry will most likely be his/her first brush with higher level science. Not having had such an experience before, your child can easily get lost before s/he knows it. Further, anyone planning to pursue the advanced sciences, will need to conquer the hurdle known as chemistry. Even adults, who find themselves, in this economy, going back to school, find they have to pass chemistry in order to pursue their chosen field. A good chemistry tutor can be a life saver. A chemistry tutor can help your child approach the advanced field of chemistry by presenting chemistry in manageable and understandable pieces. Chemistry tutoring can make chemistry understandable and enjoyable. Chemistry tutoring can supplement your child's learning in the classroom and ensure that s/he masters content and never falls behind. How will you know when your child needs a chemistry tutor? Perhaps not having needed a tutor before, your child may be the last one to ask you for one. Sometimes as parents, we need to be good detectives. As such, look for the following clues. Is your child's chemistry grade lower than his other grades? Does he avoid his chemistry homework? Has his teacher suggested s/he may be falling behind? Are you home-schooling your child, only to find that the chemistry coursework is a little beyond your comfort zone? What makes a good chemistry tutor? Here are things you should look for in choosing a chemistry tutor. 1. How well does s/he know the subject matter? The better your tutor knows the subject, the more creative s/he can be in teaching the subject to you. There is nothing worse than having a teacher or tutor who is "a chapter ahead." 2. How well does your tutor know pedagogy? How schooled is your tutor in the art of teaching? The more teaching education and experience, the more techniques s/he has at his/her disposal to make chemistry clear and understandable. 3. Does your chemistry tutor communicate well? Do you feel that your chemistry tutor understands yours and your child's needs? Does your tutor report progress effectively? 4. Is your chemistry tutor patient? Does your tutor maintain pace with your child's learning, using a variety of different tools to make learning engaging and effective? Does your tutor merely give you answers, or guide you to find the answers yourself? Even if your child seems to be handling the workload of his new, more challenging chemistry course, chemistry tutoring may be the best way to ensure his/her success. With the ever-increasing competition for college admissions, a chemistry tutor may be just the insurance he needs to truly comprehend chemistry and get the grade he needs to attend the top university of his choice. Visit *******www.chemistryinnovation****** for more information about this important Knowledge Transfer Network. In 2005-2006 the U.K. government set up Knowledge Transfer Networks (KTNs) to accelerate successful innovation by improving connections and collaborations between industrial sectors, companies and academic groups. The UK chemistry-using industries were recognised as a group of sectors where knowledge transfer was critical to secure a prosperous future. Chemistry Innovation is the KTN who took on the mammoth task of bringing together the diverse and fragmented world of the chemistry-using industries, with an underpinning focus on sustainability, it has never looked back. Its CEO and stakeholders explain to the Telegraph Business Club how its winning formula is helping re-energise the UK chemistry-using industries.

All the 118 elements properties like the general properties, physical properties & Atomic properties are well defined. The basic chemical measurements that constitute the fundamentals of chemistry are covered in chapter 1. Some Key features of iTeach are: *iTeach chemistry covers almost all the units with a brief description and examples as and where required. *iTeach chemistry can be used as a study guide for chemistry Q&A. *Useful for everyday classes. *Option of pinch and zoom out for better visibility of content. *Provides you with the option of copy & paste any part of the content with diagram. *The only complete educative app having both landscape and portrait view for better understanding. iTeach chemistry contains 10 units keeping in mind students of all age groups. Once downloaded, forget the need of internet to search for any formula or any information related to chemistry. TOPICS INCLUDED ARE: Basic Chemical Measurements Atoms & Elements Compounds & Molecules Chemistry of the Elements Chemical Reaction State of Matter Nuclear Chemistry Organic Chemistry Bio Chemistry Electro Chemistry And the most important of all is the periodic table with temperature variations This application is designed by team Patron, and verified and checked by professionals who hold a Master's degree from University of Leicester, UK & San Jose State University, California. It is true and a well know fact that there are good books, materials available in the market, Sources from internet...etc, where information related to chemistry is easily available, but Patron provides a more mobile, flexible, easy and dynamic platform which helps anyone to revise as and when required. It is always a better option to have all the resources available under one book rather than searching for each chapter or definition from various resources and wasting your valuable time...!!!
