Two Michigan Democrats are in serious hot water after an indictment on charges of forgery and perjury.
Former Oakland County Democratic Chair Mike McGuinness and Operations Director Jason Bauer face nine felony charges. The two reportedly put Tea Party candidates on the November 2010 ballot -- candidates who weren’t actually running.
In a statement issued Wednesday County Sheriff Michael Bouchard says the two attempted to skew election results.
BOUCHARD: “It's presumed intent was to have people on the ballot as tea party that weren't tea party that would draw votes from other people that ordinarily would have gotten the votes.”
Attorney Charlie Langton tells Detroit’s WJBK - these are “extremely serious charges.”
LANGTON: “The problem with the leader of the Democratic party and the assistant is basically that they took someone’s name and they phonied the documents. They phonied the affidavits, the election documents... Your wife could give you permission to sign your name on a check. I mean, that’s OK. So if these two guys had permission from these candidates, then there' s no intent. That is not exactly what' s being alleged in the documents filed today.”
But conservatives say the story is missing from the national media.
(A blogger for the conservative website Dakota Voice writes...) “I’m sure the ‘mainstream’ media will be all over this like wet on rain, making sure the good people of America know when the Democrats have been up to no good... I’ll be waiting for that wall-to-wall ‘mainstream’ media coverage, any minute now…any minute now…just any minute now…”
In fact our own closed-captioned search revealed limited coverage of the story on any major news networks. But while critics attribute that to politics, Oakland County Prosecutor Jessica Cooper says this case is just about right and wrong.
COOPER: “We stand together, the republican chair and the democratic prosecutor as professionals to assure the public that this is not a political charge or a partisan indictment.”
Bauer and McGuinness were charged with three counts of forged records, uttering and publishing, election law, false swearing, and one count of perjury. Bauer also faces an additional charge of notary public violation. If convicted, the two could face up to 14 years in prison.

MSNBC/The Young Turks host Cenk Uygur on how some nationally elected Democrats are openly fed up with the lack of leadership and constant capitulation to Republicans by president Barack Obama. Congressmen Anthony Weiner (D-NY), Dennis Kucinich (D-OH) and Peter DeFazio (D-OR) in particular had some harsh criticism.
I basically go over the Democrat's difficult path to victory should they follow the advice of Peter Daou and Joy Ann Reid.
What began as a dream in business communication is today a political and social challenge for Juan Vides, a resident of Oceanside who seeks to represent District 20 in the Assembly of New York.
"Let's connect people," says Vides, "that's my slogan. That's what I want to achieve ", and that is that communication is his passion. As CEO of TechACS Corp, a marketing agency specializing in website design, Vides began working with the Hispanic community of Long Island since he was 26, when he was part of the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce of Long Island (Long Island Hispanic Chamber of Commerce) and helped them with the creation of their website. There, he says, his commitment was born.
Vides, 40, came to live in the United States as a Salvadoran refugee at the age of four, and when he was 16 he became a US citizen after former President Ronald Reagan granted amnesty to his family.
"I became an American citizen two years before turning 18 to be able to vote in the elections," said Vides, who says that "it was time for a Latino from Nassau County to occupy a seat in the Assembly", and that is Vides explained that his impulse was born the day he had to investigate who was his representative.
Vides refers to Melissa 'Missy' Miller, who in 2016, decided to make her first foray into a public office, running for the New York State Assembly and replacing Todd Kaminsky, after he won the elections for the Senate of NY.
Unopposed to the Republican nomination, Miller defeated Democrat Anthony Eramo, Long Beach City Councilman, with 52% of the vote and swore his first term on January 1, 2017.
Although there are several months to go before the big election on November 7, Vides follows the community closely, sharing with residents and listening to their concerns.
"We share the same problems. We are Hispanic, we are Anglo-Saxons, we are Jews. We are all residents of District 20 and that is what should unite us to improve our lives, "said Vides, emphasizing the importance of unity.
