Department of Justice Unveils Ads at Annual Project Safe Neighborhoods Conference
The U.S. Department of Justice, in partnership with the Ad Council, announced today the launch of a new series of public service advertisements (PSAs) aimed at reducing gun crime in America. The PSAs are an extension of the Department of Justice's Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative. First launched in 2003, the campaign seeks to reduce violent crime by drawing attention to the negative effects gun crime has on the families of offenders.
The ads will be unveiled this afternoon at the Annual Project Safe Neighborhoods Conference in Atlanta.
Developed by the U.S. Department of Justice, Project Safe Neighborhoods (PSN) is a nationwide commitment designed to reduce gun crime in America. As in previous phases of the campaign, the new television, radio and outdoor PSAs seek to engage potential offenders by portraying the negative consequences gun crime has not only for those who commit it, but also for their families. The ads are available in both English and Spanish and have been localized for 60 markets nationwide.

The United States Department of Agriculture's Food Nutrition and Consumer Services and the Ad Council announce today the launch of a multi-media public service advertising (PSA) campaign designed to inspire children and families to adopt healthier lifestyles.
As we all know, today's obesity and overweight statistics are staggering. Approximately 66 percent of adult Americans are considered overweight or obese while 17 percent of American children themselves are categorized as overweight. Research indicates that there is a direct correlation between being overweight during childhood and adolescence and carrying that through into adulthood.
Furthermore, recent Ad Council research indicates that mothers and caregivers understand the importance of healthy eating yet struggle with knowing the best way to provide good nutrition for their families. According to a 2007 study conducted by Yankelovich Research among low-income mothers on behalf of the Ad Council's Coalition for Healthy Children, less than half of those surveyed describe their children as physically fit and only 40 percent said their kids are healthy eaters. In addition, 39 percent of low income mothers said they are unclear about which foods are considered healthy and 63 percent report that healthy eating is often a major battle with their child.

This video is a thank you to the Denver Police department, who acted honorably at this years Ken Gorman 420 Marijuana Legalization Rally. Despite having a huge force, they only made one arrest (or zero arrests for Marijuana-conflicting reports as to what the dude who was arrested there was arrested for.) Numerous times the police even walked past “law breakers” and gave water and medical attention to people who passed out from the heat and shortage of water. If this is how the DPD, who occasionally is known for shooting dudes sitting in beds with soda cans, is going to handle protests from now on, the future looks peaceful and bright, especially for the Democratic National Convention heading here in August. Thanks again to the Mayor’s Office, all the Police, and everyone who let this years rally become the most successful ever thrown. See you all next year!
