I think this is the first ever Professor Layton crossover paring that was outside the game. I chose Belle because she reminds me of Claire in some ways. Plus doesn’t Adam look like a long haired Layton…sort of?
Story in case it’s a little confusing:
Professor Hershel Layton; after dealing with a heartfelt blow by the lost of his beloved Claire decides to take a much needed holiday with his young apprentice Luke Triton. During the drive to the small country villa, the last moments he spent with her play though his head, but the bittersweet memory ends once they arrived. While walking to the hotel Layton notices a young women walking with her nose in the book. As she passes him, he shock at how much she look like Claire, curiosity compels him to run after her.
However he stumbles upon an argument between her and a rugged man know to her as Gaston. After Gaston throws Belle book in the mud and calls her worthless Luke immediately shouts at him to leave her alone. Not wanting to make a scene Gaston leaves Belle to clean up her book. Being the young gentleman Luke asks if she was alright. Belle apologizes for bothering them with her problem but the Professor eases her mind with his gentleman wisdom. Still feeling guilty she invites them to her farm as payment. Her father ecstatic at the fact a celebrity was staying with them open his doors to them. Belle tells ‘Mr. Layton’ that he and Luke can stay for as long as they needed, only after Layton tells her she can drop the formalities being friends and all.
“Very well…Hershel…” she restates before drinking her tea, at that moment Layton couldn’t help but compare her to Claire, but only for a second.
Three weeks have passed and the three become good friends. One night Belle confides in Luke that she might have a crush on Layton, but feels he couldn’t feel the same way to an odd farmer like her. Luke encourages her that he believes his professor feels the same way and that makes her smile. But the moment doesn’t last when someone breaks into her home. Thinking fast Luke rushes upstairs and gets the professor. Hearing Belle’s in trouble Layton rushes to the living room to find it torn apart by Gaston. He keeps lunging for Belle, trying to get to her; the look on her face clearly tells him this wasn’t the first time.
He orders Gaston to leave her alone but the drunken fool doesn’t listen and tries to attack him. Being the gentleman he is instead of fisticuffs he lures Gaston to the door and lets him throw himself out into the snow. After securing locking the door he turns to Belle to see her in tears on the floor. He apologizes to her for discovering Gaston was a former boyfriend who was harassing her since they broke up. She doesn’t forgive him for she believes it’s her fault for putting him and Luke in that much trouble. She tells him to forget about her and to leave. Layton couldn’t believe it; he was going to lose Belle just like he lost Claire. Her goodbye rang the same tone as Belles, he couldn’t let it happen.
“You can’t go!” he shouts, loosing his gentleman composure. Belle gasps in sheer shock, “I don’t want to say goodbye. Please Belle, I…I Love You!”
Both Luke and Belle are surprised by Layton reaction, one more than the other. Blinded by tears of joy Belle grasps Layton chest and hold him close, whispering, “I love you Hershel…” Luke stares in awe as she and Layton share a teary passionate kiss in the wreak room.
Time passed and it was time for Luke and Layton to return to London. However this cut into their holiday for they are being called back on an urgent matter. Since Belle knew Hershel couldn’t stay with her she asks if she could come with them. After a moment he replies,
“What lies ahead could be dangerous…”he pauses Belle looking skeptical at him, “That while you’ll have to be extra careful, alright?” She smiles and the three rides back to London together. Never forgetting how two broken hearts found their way into each others lives.
Sappy, sweet, I don’t care what you call it I like it ^_^
