Jonathan and Tara share their top gifts for the gamer in your life this holiday season (or any season, really), as well as look forward to some awesome games in 2011. Call of Duty Black Ops is getting a new map pack, including an ice rink, Retro City Rampage is gonna be downloadable on a few platforms, and the mysterious FEZ looks awesome. Also, the mouth drools at 8GB cartridges for the 3DS.
Jonathan and Tara are back in the motherland to celebrate the holidays with their families, so Carnage and Scoville have invaded the studio for the day. There's not really much in the way of gaming news today, so we're getting wacky with some holiday craziness. We run down the best snow levels, our favorite (gaming-related) holiday memories, and the games you definitely do not want to get for Christmas. Happy Holidays everyone! See you next week for our gala awards show.
It's that time of the year -- the Destructoid Show Awards Show are HERE! Jonathan, Tara, and everyone at the Destructoid Show take a look back at 2010, and give thanks to the games that stood out. On part 1 of a two part spectacular, we give out awards for the best graphics, the best co-op experience, the best virtual acting, the hardest to put down, the best storytelling, the biggest disappointment, and the Destructoid**** GAME OF THE YEAR. Who will come out the big winner? Red Dead Redemption? Mass Effect 2? Super Mario Galaxy 2? Enslaved? Super Meat Boy? Watch and find out who walks away with the Golden Helmet!
Part two of our epic conclusion to the Destructoid Show Awards Show is here. Today we run down the best DLC, the best score, the most improved series, the most surprising announcement and our most prestigious award, the coveted READER'S CHOICE. Who will walk home with the Golden Helmet? Will it be Halo: Reach, Mass Effect 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2, Black Ops, Assassins: Creed Brotherhood, or will a dark horse(steed) steal the show? Watch to find out, and be sure to let us know YOUR game of the year in the comments.
Happy New Year everyone! We’re back from our mini-hiatus, and we’ve got a bunch of new resolutions. First and foremost, everyone say hello to our new co-host, Max Scoville. You may recognize him from guesting on some previous episodes, but now he’s here for good. Our much beloved Jonathan Holmes had to return to his home-planet of Boston, and continues to fight the good Destructoid fight, but logistically, living in Boston and shooting in San Francisco just doesn’t work out. Anyway, news is pretty light right now so we’re a little slim on content. The biggest story of the day is the leaked/stolen 3DS that found its way off the Nintendo assembly line in China and next to some cute desk ornaments. We’ve also got the promise of even more forthcoming Mass Effect 2 DLC, Monster Hunter in 3D(s), and intriguing Japanese underwear. Stay a while won’t you?
It's the first humpday of 2011, and just to honor that we've got a show packed full of buttcheeks just for you. Tara and Max mourn the loss of a new friend, chat about iPads and iPad 2s, discuss Nintendo's latest innovation, and ponder universe with a He-Man videogame. There's also buttcheeks.
Happy Monday everyone. We've got a lot of news for you today - there's our last of the CES rundowns with some very lackluster accessories, the latest dirt on the 3DS' batteries and launch titles thanks to Nintendo World, and a relative TON of new info on Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim, thanks to Game Informer. Max also gets to talk about Jade and Goro from Mortal Kombat, so everyone's happy. In some sad news, Gearbox's Alien: Colonial Marines will NOT be seeing a release this year, thanks to Duke Nukem Forever.
It's the first Friday of the New Year, and doesn't it feel great? It's hard to believe that at the start of the week, there was almost nothing worth reporting about -- now we've been covered in a veritable avalanche of video-game related journalism. CES was obviously the big news in all things consumer electronics this week, and we've got a few quick hits that you need to know about (most noticeably, an amazing portable gaming machine). We're also getting closer to the first big releases of the year, including Dtoid favorite Marvel vs Capcom 3. Nick Chester has had a hand on it for a few weeks now, and we've got the gameplay footage and costumes to prove it. As if that wasn't enough, Capcom went and revealed 2 more characters for the roster, although we kinda saw that coming. Oh, and did you hear that there's a Playstation Phone coming? Well now we know that it actually plays games, and isn't just a poseur.
Today is a very special day. Why, you might ask? Well, because Tara had a post devoted to her on 4chan last night! Whether this is the pinnacle or the nadir of our lives, we're excited - so excited that we've brought you another episode full of great news. Like all legitimate news programs we start out with a retraction of some of Monday's lies, then move on to indie game Amensia: Dark Descent making some money, take a stop in the jail to talk about Wesley Snipes' new game called JULIUS STYLES, and of course spend time talking about the 3DS. The latest news is that the 3DS will be region locked, dissuading potential importers, and that the games will cost 49.99. Ouch.
Happy Monday everyone! Today Jonathan and Tara run down the games of the week, pick on Ubisoft for making a geographical error of epic proportions, preview a crazy pro-adultery pro-drinking pro-Japanese game, and conclusively prove that the Kinect is not so interested in gaming.
TGIF everyone. No time for chit chat, lets get to it: today Max and Tara run down the week in reviews thanks to Jim Sterling, talk about the Capcom/Splosion Man debacle, realize the reality of the Dreamcast Collection, and rant about the stupidity of Bulletstorm.
The substitute teachers are in today, and they've brought a wacky episode. Tara runs down her top 5 favorite Android games, while Max bathes in the melancholic realization of his top 5 Blackberry games. Also, with the impending release of Marvel vs Capcom 3, we've been thinking about some other franchise crossover games we might like. Let us know what yours are!
