BY BRICE SANDER You're watching multisource entertainment news analysis from Newsy When Washington crushes your political dreams, where do you turn? Duh -- Reality TV. Following the Palin family’s lead, failed senatorial candidate Christine O’Donnell is reportedly deciding whether she should “bring it” to the ballroom. O’Donnell announced on Facebook that she got the official “ask” from Dancing with the Stars. Wanting her fans’ feedback, she asked for help in making her decision. (E! News) Ask and you shall receive. O’Donnell got feedback from just about everyone, including Anderson Cooper. O’Donnell’s questioning of whether she should take on the dance floor landed her on Cooper’s “RidicuList”- but not for the reason you might think. “I think it’s ridiculous that you’re even asking. Of course you should be on Dancing with the Stars! It would be ridiculous of you not to be on Dancing with the Stars.” Even ABC – Dancing with the Star’s own network – supports the decision to bring the controversial candidate on board. One exec told PopEater -- casting Christine O’Donnell makes sense -- -- especially with the whole “dabbling in witchcraft” thing. (Christine4Senate) "Christine is not a bad idea at all … after Kate Gosselin and Cloris Leachman, O'Donnell would fit right in. She certainly would be so controversial that the amount of press attention and buzz the show would get would be huge. Plus, you know they would make her dance in a witch's hat with a broomstick." But not everybody wants to see the Tea Party’s Delaware darling compete for the mirror ball trophy. A pop-culture panel on the Joy Behar Show says there’s barely room for real politicians on Dancing with the Stars, let alone unsuccessful ones. KAREN MILLS FRANCIS: “But, I mean, this Christine? Who is she?” JOY BEHAR: “She ran for the Senate in Delaware – that’s who she is.” KAREN MILLS FRANCIS: “But, wait – wait. Where’s Delaware?” BEN LYONS: “It’s Dancing with the Stars, right? It’s called Dancing with the Stars, not Dancing with the People Who Ran for Office in Delaware and Lost.” On MSNBC, Politics Daily political correspondent Alex Wagner says the ballroom is where political careers go to die. Two words: Tom Delay. “The disconcerting thing, of course, is the blurring line between politics and entertainment. And in the times that we’re facing, I think a lot of Americans want people who conduct themselves with a certain amount of decorum and gravitas, if they’re going to be seeking higher office.” If she does lace up her dancing shoes, E! Online has a few ideas for what songs Christine “I’m not a witch” O’Donnell could try out. “Perhaps a quickstep to The Eagles' ‘Witchy Woman’? A samba to Santana's ‘Black-Magic Woman’? We can only hope...” So, can O’Donnell bewitch the ballroom? Or are you ready to see her finally fly away? BY ANDREW HOWARD ANCHOR: CHANCE SEALES You're watching multisource entertainment video news analysis from Newsy What do you get when you put the original karate kid, a two-time Super Bowl winner, a talk show host, model, and rapper together? Why, the new season of Dancing With the Stars of course. It’s time to strap up those dancing shoes as the lineup for the 12th season of ABC's hit celebrity dancing show has finally been revealed. Don’t expect too many changes, though - it appears ABC is sticking to the show’s winning formula. As E! Online reports, audiences will find..... “The usual assortment of active and retired athletes, a rapper, a fresh-faced Disney Channel star and TV and film actors whose heydays were more than a few days ago, many of whom make you think twice and say to yourself, ‘I can't believe so-and-so is 60!’” But is more of the same a good thing for ABC? The San Francisco Chronicle thinks otherwise-- predicting this season will be as forgettable as last year’s... “...no one really drew me in. ... I have a feeling this year will be the same. The cast is filled with a bunch of people who not only don't interest me, but flat out turn me off.” The cast -- which includes celebrities Kirstie Alley, Chris Jericho, and Kendra Wilkinson -- have some questioning - where are the stars? If you find yourself having to Google some of the names - you’re not alone. Movie Line’s Christopher Rosen shares his frustrations..... “It’s always easy to harp on Dancing With the Stars for having precious few stars, but this feels particularly egregious.” But wait - wasn’t there supposed to be another star attached to the new season? Noticeably missing from the line up is Deleware Tea Party candidate Christine O’Donnell. The “I'm Not A Witch” politician -- who unsuccessfully ran for U.S. Senate in 2010 -- revealed that she would be lacing up her dancing shoes right now if her other projects were further along. “I’m honored to have been invited to participate in one of the few uplifting TV shows out there. … Yet, for now, I have another challenge before me; to complete a book that tells the story of the 2010 election cycle with the dignity and respect it deserves.” So with a lack luster cast - is anyone actually going to tune in? NBC believes these factors might actually help the show. “[This] might sound like the recipe for the best season in the years - an end to the distractions and unfair advantages, a back - to - basics ballroom.” Today goes on to say... “For other ‘Dancing’ enthusiasts, it’s bound to be boring. Either way, the die is cast and viewers simply have to make the most of it of the good or bad situation." With preparation for the new season in full swing - the stars agreed to sit down to answer a few burning questions. Reporter - “How do you become likable on Dancing With the Stars?” Kirstie Alley- “I don’t know. I can’t speak for everyone, but I think that we’re just here to try and not fall on our butts the first week.” As the battle for the mirror ball begins March 21st on ABC, will these celebrities have what it takes to dance their way into the hearts of viewers? BY STEPHANIE REDDING You're watching multisource entertainment news analysis from Newsy The man who stormed off the set of Good Morning America, sang his way back onto the network on Dancing With The Stars. E! Online says... “After apologizing for his Good Morning America tantrum Chris returned to the ABC network Tuesday to perform on Dancing with the Stars. ‘Hold your glasses up people everywhere and put your hands in the air’ ... The R&B singer busted out to amazingly choreographed numbers on the show and while we waited for Chris to address his GMA tirade. Brown kept it all about the music getting a standing ovation from the judges and the audience.” The staff at The Hollywood Reporter spoke with dancing pro Cheryl Burke-- and she’s not a fan. "As a victim of domestic violence, I don't agree with him coming on the show, but it's out of my control." Brown, who recently had a meltdown on GMA, apologized on BET last week. ABC REPORTER: “In a rambling message on BET accompanied by a background music track.” BROWN: “First of all, I wanted to apologize to anybody who was startled in the office, anybody who was offended and really looked disappointed in my actions because I was disappointed in the way I acted. And you know a lot of people don’t know what went down.” Despite Brown’s recent behavior at GMA, ABC invited him back and are trying to get him and Rihanna together for a reunion. The Boombox writes, “Media fodder aside, the Virginia native's music sales have not diminished as a result of his antics. His latest album, 'F.A.M.E.,' topped the Billboard album charts this week with an estimated 132,530 copies sold.” Neither Brown nor Rihanna have commented on the potential reunion.
