No matter how old, how experienced, how well educated or what the job, women are still paid less than men, all over the world. And traditional womens work has always been chronically undervalued. But what if there was a tool that evaluates jobs based on the requirements of the job and not whether women or men perform them? It exists, and its being used in an unlikely place: behind the scenes of Portugals busiest restaurants. This video represents the September theme "Remove the obstacles! On the right track to equality" of the ILO's "Gender Equality at the Heart of Decent Work Campaign, 2008-2009". For more information visit www.ilo****/gender.

From the director of Calendar Girls comes the new comedy-drama with an all star British cast, Made in Dagenham. Paramount Pictures UK is delighted to announce the theatrical release on October 1st in both the UK and Ireland. The film stars the award winning Sally Hawkins as Rita O’Grady who is the catalyst for the 1968 Ford Dagenham strike by 187 sewing machinists which led to the advent of the Equal Pay Act. Working in extremely impoverished conditions and for long arduous hours, the women at the Ford Dagenham plant finally lay down their tools when they are reclassified as “unskilled”. With humour, common sense and courage they take on their corporate paymasters, an increasingly belligerent local community, and finally the government itself. The leader of the women’s struggle is fast-talking, no nonsense Rita whose fiery temper and occasionally hilarious unpredictability proves to be a match for any of her male opponents, and is echoed by Barbara Castle's struggle in the male-dominated House of Commons.

Senator McCain is extremely out of touch with the lives women are living in 2008. John McCain opposed the Lily Ledbetter Fair Pay Act (equal pay for equal work). What about Reproductive Choice? McCain has pledged to overturn Roe VS Wade and he supports a Constitutional ban on all abortions... Economic issues??? 1. Subprime mortgage crisis? John McCain OPPOSED legislation that would help working families KEEP their homes. 2. The minimum wage increase? McCain voted AGAINST the minimum wage raise Congress passed in 2007. What about Iraq? McCain thinks women do NOT care that their sons and daughters, fathers and mothers, aunts and uncles, brothers and sisters are fighting a war in Iraq. (He thinks 100 years is just fine) What about Iran? McCain was singing his favorite song: Bomb-Bomb-Bomb Iran. (After all, women don't care about war - they simply hate Barack Obama so much that little things like wars, fair pay, Roe VS Wade, losing their homes and permanent Bush tax breaks for the wealthy don't matter). WOMEN of AMERICA: John McCain is DANGEROUS for All Women! Give Hope a Chance - Choose to vote for your Hopes and not for your FEARS! Vote for Barack Obama in 2008. 1-20-09: George Bush's last day in office. No third George Bush term for John McCain! Category: News & Politics Tags: Women support Obama McCain Dangerous Mr. Danger II

There are 3 reasons why McCain won't win the general election in November. 1. Women. 2. Women. 3. Women. 1. McCain is dangerous for women. He opposed equal pay for equal work, opposes reproductive rights for women, and thinks it is OK to make jokes about bombing Iran. WOMEN and children are often the innocent victims of indiscriminate, deadly bombing attacks... 2. Women who supported Hillary Clinton, Democrats, would love to vote for him but can not forget that McCain voted to impeach Hillary's husband, Bill Clinton, for cheating with Monica. This was hypocrisy because McCain divorced his first wife, Carol, after cheating on Carol with Cindy, his second wife! 3. McCain famously referred to his second wife, Cindy, as a "C--NT" and to Senator Hillary Clinton as a "BI-CH! ('nuff said) BONUS TRACK: McCain has recently admitted he doesn't even know how to use a computer. McCain has admitted he knows little about the economy. McCain wants to make the Bush tax cuts permanent. McCain thinks our present health care system is adequate. McCain voted against veterans in 2004, 2005,2006, and 2007. He missed a vote on a new GI Bill in the Senate for a new GI Bill to provide better education benefits for returning veterans, many of whom are WOMEN... McCain needs women, but his policies (George Bush clone) make him a very unattractive candidate... Condi Rice, (a Black WOMAN) was offered the VP slot on McCain's GOP Dream Ticket - but refused the honor(?) of becoming the first African American (ever) & First Female to possibly become VP of the USA... Ann Coulter, called "Mrs. Right" by Time Magazine, famously stated she would campaign actively for Hillary Clinton if McCain won the GOP nomination... The GOP? What about the Republican Party? John and Cindy McCain didn't vote for Bush. Rumor has it that the WOMEN in the Bush family are planning on returning the favor...
