A larger monitor is always better for your flight simulator. If you can't afford a larger monitor at this time, you may want to experiment with an inexpensive fresnel lens screen magnifier.
MaxiAids**** has fresnel lenses in a variety of sizes.
We have a little fun with fresnel lenses in this video. This was a controlled environment, don't try this at home. Do not light objects on fire with fresnel lenses.
This video also helps you improve the mounting frame for the lens.

Many people do not realize that coal ash is used in products they have in their house. While is is trapped somewhat safely in some cement products, the high levels of heavy metals may present in household items.
This is a new design I found, they work with a Fresnel Lens or a Parabolic Mirror. Strong and efficient for its size. About 15-40 watts.
We have been trying different videos and had a run of experiments not going right. Also Florida is very cloudy from June - July, this video took 4 hours to shoot waiting for the clouds.

My 53 inch Fresnel (Fra'nel) lens focused on a pot of old gasoline with some water added. I like the swirls in the liquids, caused by the different heating rates of the two liquids. No fire, the gas didn't vaporize. About 800 watts focused in the center of the pot.
Inflatable fresnel lens based solar cells are another elegent approach to low cost solar. If only I had the wherewithal to develop the idea when it first occurred to me 6years ago!! Distributed by Tubemogul.
