On January 12, 2010 at 4:53 pm a natural catastrophe hits in the core of Port-Au-Prince, Haiti, leaving massive devastation in its wake. Hundreds of thousands of people are killed, buildings toppled, and the calm once known as Haiti is riddled with crippling fear. In its paths are schools, orphanages, hospitals, and government buildings flattened under the force of a deep underground after-wakes. Port-au-Prince, a region of only 600 Km, was inhabited by some two million people, in structures that fell like match boxes under the 7.0 earthquake force. Homelessness, food and water shortages, and orphans without their orphanages and guardians are number one issues surrounding this tiny island. Around the world, news of Haiti's devastation hit airwaves bringing tons of donations and supports from governments and leadings organizations. But the question is, will this help Haiti and how? Last August on the 27th, Hurricane Gustav struck Haiti leaving devastation along with promises from many outside supporters to build housing, provide food, and medical supplies for its victims. Once the escalation of fearful emotions and heavy empathetic hearts subsided, Haiti was left once more on its own to do what it has always been doing, ignoring the voice of the people and their plights!
