BY VICTORIA CRAIG ANCHOR MEGAN MURPHY You're watching multisource video news analysis from Newsy. Starbucks isn’t just about lattes anymore. In addition to its handcrafted beverages, the coffee giant will try its hand at money lending and job creation. The company rolled out plans for a new campaign called Create Jobs USA. The Wall Street Journal explains the motive behind the move. “Starbucks Corp. Chief Executive Howard Schultz, who has been on a mission to cut the national debt and boost job creation, has pledged to donate at least $100,000 of profits annually from two Starbucks stores in low-income areas to boost jobs in those communities.” Starbucks will get the ball rolling by donating the first five million dollars to small businesses in areas of Brooklyn and Los Angeles. But that’s only a fraction of what’s needed. ABC News explains starting November 1, the rest is up to the company’s caffeinated customers. “If you donate five dollars or more online or at any of its participating stores, you get this nifty bracelet and help loan money to small businesses like your local florist, a baker, a grocer – creating jobs across the country and filling a void left by banks that won’t lend.” While the idea of helping local communities may appeal to some customers, 24/7 Wall Street says Schultz should leave the rescuing America to someone else. “It’s hard to imagine that Starbucks customers in line to buy a $4 drink, in some cases, will warm to the request to put money toward a scheme they neither know about nor understand. Customers may view the solicitation as an intrusion.” A contributor for Entrepreneur adds that despite the effort, the funds may not go directly to small businesses. “The funds aren’t strictly earmarked for current business owners and would-be entrepreneurs. Starbucks…is plowing much of the money from its program into nonprofits that are assisting troubled schools.” But two panelists on Fox News’ “The Five” applaud Starbucks for doing something to help local economies and people out of work. “I gotta give credit to Starbucks for doing something to try and improve the world…I think it’s a wonderful thing they’re doing and it only underscores how little the rest of corporate America does to not do anything to help.” This isn't the first time Schultz has waded into politics. Just weeks ago, he encouraged CEOs of other companies to hold off on making campaign donations until the government reduced the country's deficit and spending problems.

(Image source: Mobiledia) BY BRICE SANDER Social media addiction is real. Well, so say researchers from The University of Chicago. They gave 205 people – ages 18 to 25 – BlackBerrys and prompted them seven times a day for a week, asking if they were feeling any urges. Researchers recorded more than 7,000 “desire episodes,” reporting the need to log onto social media sites like Facebook and Twitter topped the desire for sex, sleep, alcohol and cigarettes. (YouTube/Revision3) Mobiledia tries to explain the serge in the urge to log on. “Users find it easier to justify glancing at a Facebook page than having a drink at 2 p.m. …The stigma, as well as the dangers, surrounding alcohol and tobacco don't exist with social media, so users are able to rationalize their actions as harmless.” A writer for The Atlantic Wire says it makes sense, but it’s a sad fact to face. “Less fun and more addictive ... a sad combination. Not that we don't enjoy some Twitter time, but it's fun as a work distraction, not as a Saturday night activity … Basically, if drinking had zero consequences (i.e., hangovers) we'd booze all day long.” When word of the study hit the web, the guys at The Hour put together a tongue-in-cheek self-help video, “Five Steps to Beating Social Media Addiction.” “Recognizing that true friends never address you by your screen name.” “Hey – great blog post last night, FuzzyPants24!” Forbes joins The Hour in poking fun at the study’s findings. “There’s also the argument to be made that social media is just as harmful, forcing someone to recede from the world ... But it’s a little easier to make the harm argument with cigarettes.” A Gawker blogger agrees, but raises some follow-up questions he’d like answered. “ … it's hard to imagine a ‘rock bottom’ for checking one's phone too frequently … If anything, the study is something worth thinking about … What are the long-term effects of this dependence? How does the constant impulse to check our phones affect our attention spans? And why do I care how many Twitter followers I have?”

Classic Game Room reviews CAPCOM VS. SNK for the Sega Dreamcast video game console. This is a 2D versus fighting game where you can play as the Capcom characters from the Street Fighter games or as the SNK characters from games like Fatal Fury or King of Fighters on the NEO GEO. That's right, you can finally play as Chun Li and whoop Mai Shiranui into a quivering ball of tears. "Say Andy one more time, bitch! SAY IT!" M. Bison, Blanka, Ken, Ryu and the whole Street Fighter team take on the SNK characters like Geese, Raiden, King and Iori Yagami. The special moves are all here but the buttons have been simplified to a 4-button Sega Dreamcast fighting controller. Graphics are incredible and it's hard to imagine how Capcom will top this will Street Fighter 4. If you're hungry for more games like Street Fighter 2, Marvel vs. Capcom or NEO GEO titles this game is for you. It's a bargain now and tremendously fun with unlockable features and scalable difficulty. LOCK ON! Damn right! The Classic Game Room retro video game review show for retro gamers and new gamers loves CAPCOM vs. SNK. Word!

Classic Game Room reviews DONKEY KONG JUNIOR arcade machine from 1982 by Nintendo. It's hard to imagine Nintendo making arcade machines, especially for Donkey Kong Jr.! DK Jr. was a super-popular videogame on home consoles like the NES Nintendo Entertainment System, Atari 2600, Atari 7800 and ColecoVision. This CGR video review of Donkey Kong Jr. features a Donkey Kong Jr. video game arcade machine from the arcades showing Donkey Kong Jr gameplay in HD action from PAPA World Headquarters.

Mega Man: The Wily Wars Review. CGRundertow presents a video game review of Mega Man: The Wily Wars for Sega Genesis. Think about being able to download video games, game demos, enter contests, all that stuff in the mid 90s. For some, it's not hard to imagine thanks to the Sega Channel. Far ahead of their time, Sega started a service that allowed players to hook up ANOTHER add-on to their Genesis, plug the add-on into a cable system, and download video games to their Genesis. Of course, there were hardware limitations, as the games needed to be re-downloaded once the adaptor lost power, but while they were stored in the Genesis' SRAM, they were yours. This is one of the famous 'Sega Channel Exlusives', an enhanced remake and port of the first 3 Mega Man games from the NES. The Wily Wars never saw a cartridge based release in English for us NTSC gamers, but Europe saw this 16-bit shine on MegaMan on their MegaDrive consoles in easy-to-play-no-broadcast-license-needed cartridge form. Featuring not only a shiny new look to the Blue Bomber, The Wily Wars also toted enhanced music, better graphics, and a unlockable mini-game known as The Wily Tower...and the main reason to look into this game. It is a good thing the Genesis/MegaDrive controller is round, because gamers will be frustrated at the sticky controls found in this 'enhanced' remake. And while CGR's Jonathan would rather listen to CrashMan's Theme performed by the One Ups, the music can be argued to be better or worse than the NES originals. But it's a Mega Man game, and everything Mega Man is good, right? This video review features video gameplay footage of Mega Man: The Wily Wars on the Sega Genesis, and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's Jonathan.
