This was recorded outside from the back deck of my Northern Michigan apartment, 5/14/00. My girlfriend had called me shortly after leaving as she was driving home. She was turning around to come back to my apartment. She said that there were people pulled off on the side of the road, pointing at the thing in the sky. I could see it from my apartment. I grabbed my camera, focused in as close as possible within the first 20 seconds of taping this. I have the audio if you are interested. I held the camera at the same time as holding the phone, so don't be deceived by the shaky camera work. It is not the Ufo moving. You will know when it moves. Pay attention to the end when the size of light becomes large, then small...back and forth, and a clear shot of it disappearing. The behavior of this object is so unpredictable that I have no other reason than to believe it's validity. You decide.

Consumer Reports’ annual survey of 58,000 readers put AT&T dead last among wireless carriers. Responses blasted AT&T’s data services, voice calling, overall value, and customer support -- making AT&T the only network to experience a significant ratings drop from 2009. St. Louis NBC-affiliate KSDK has the story. “The nation’s second-largest wireless network received the worst possible rating in 8 of the 9 categories the magazine studied. Readers gave AT&T an overall score of just 60 out of 100, which is nine points below its nearest competitor, T-Mobile. U.S. Cellular is number one on this year’s list, followed by Verizon and Sprint.” A blogger for Connected Planet wonders if it’s a geographic issue -- highly-ranked Sprint and Verizon have more extensive coverage than the bottom two networks, AT&T and T-Mobile. “It’s difficult to match up AT&T’s poor performance in the survey with the recent field tests of networks, which show AT&T producing some of the best network performance metrics in major markets across the country. Part of the problem, though, might be that a substantial portion of the U.S. population doesn’t live in those major markets.” The news is of particular concern to AT&T as Apple prepares to launch the iPhone on Verizon, a move which some experts predict could cost AT&T 6 million customers in the first year. (Video: NECN) But a writer for PCWorld says, maybe the iPhone is actually what’s dragging AT&T down. “It is worth noting, however, that more than half of the responding AT&T customers are iPhone users, and that among non-iPhone smartphone owners AT&T fared better. Perhaps, much of the AT&T network woes are as much--or more-- a function of the iPhone as they are of the AT&T network itself.” Finally, an analyst for CNBC says hold the phone before you jump the AT&T ship -- this wasn’t a scientific study. It was a survey. FORTT: “Not exactly the worst carrier, Maria, though that is the word the magazine uses. The most hated. It’s an important distinction. ... Consumer Reports didn’t test AT&T’s network -- they polled their readers about their experience. ... It’s possible that AT&T’s network is now better than customers think, and these results are based on old attitudes, but to some degree, perception is reality.” ComputerWorld reports AT&T came in at 22 points below top-ranked U.S. Cellular -- more than twice the 9-point gap between AT&T and top-ranked Verizon in 2009.

BY BRANDON TWICHELL You're watching multisource health news analysis from Newsy Hold the phone - away from you? A new study confirms cell phones increase activity in the brain cells nearest to the phone. But no one knows for sure if all that brain activity is healthy - or lethal. We’re picking at your brain with coverage from Fox News, NBC, Discovery News, and The Washington Post. Check out how the study worked. 47 people, each with a cell phone strapped to each side of their head for 50 minutes. One was off - the other was muted. The results? A seven percent increase in activity in the brain cells closest to the muted phone. (Video Source: NBC) A doctor tells Fox News even though no link was found between cell phone use and disease, increased brain activity from cell phones isn’t healthy. “Like anything else, any kind of motor, if you think about how diseases get, you know, get produced, is by the cells, you know, overutilizing energy, multiplying rapidly.” But some scientists are skeptical of long-term damage. A doctor and a scientist share their thoughts on NBC’s Nightly News. MICHAEL WEINER: “There’s nothing in this paper that suggests that cell phones have any adverse effect or harmful effect on the brain.” ROBERT BAZELL: “Most physicists who study radiation have always said that cell phones could not cause brain tumors or other health problems.” ROBERT CAHN: “The cell phone doesn’t emit enough power to be damaging the human body." A bioengineer tells Discovery News there are too many variables to accurately measure the brain’s activity. "[C]ell phones emit more radiation when a person is talking ... Radiation levels also change depending on the phone type, the distance to the nearest cell phone tower and the number of people using phones in the same area.” Finally, an opinion writer for the Washington Post takes a satirical jab at the study, saying texting is the way to go. “Since getting a cell phone, at least 7 percent of my brain has continually been active wondering whether anyone has sent me a text message...Without my cell phone, I am lost. With it, I am also lost, but I can text somebody.” The authors of the study say more research is still needed. BY: KELSEY WAANANEN ANCHOR CHRISTINA HARTMAN You're watching multisource global video news analysis from Newsy. It’s an app -- that offers a cure for -- “unwanted homosexuality.” Now -- The Guardian notes -- after allowing it to clear its app store hurdles -- Apple is pulling the so-called “gay cure” app. “The company has strict rules on governing the content of apps and regularly blocks apps it believes may cause offence or contain risqué content. [The app] had been marked “4+” by the company, a grade that meant Apple judged it contained no objectionable content.” But at least one organization says “hold the phone”. Gay rights group Truth Wins Out started an online petition -- gathering nearly 150,000 signatures at Change**** -- calling for the app to get the axe. Turns out, the mass protest did the trick. CNet notes an Apple Spokesperson said “[the app] violates our developer guidelines by being offensive to large groups of people.” But the conversation has only just begun. Now the hot button issue is a question -- how can Apple ban apps that are racist or anti-Sematic -- but allow the “gay cure” app in its store? Gawker discusses the role Apple has taken on by being curator. “CEO Steve Jobs designated the store as a place with “freedom from porn“ and from risqué fashion spreads, illustrated gay literature, political caricature and other controversial content. Now every time Apple approves an app, it implies moral endorsement of the content of that app. Rejections likewise carry an implied moral condemnation.” PC Magazine says “bravo” to Apple for removing the app. It then turns the lens on consumers and asks -- why support Apple as grand app poohbah? “... this is a very slippery slope. Many people already complain about Apple’s often confusing, inconsistent, and seemingly cavalier attitude toward app approval, denial, and removal. Are we saying that this attitude is okay when we agree with the actions?” A Forbes blogger agrees and says - consumers are letting themselves be regulated. “If, as some have predicted, we are moving away from an unregulated Internet wild west and toward a more “orderly” electronic society of pre-packaged App-voices, we do ourselves a frightening disservice to ask Apple, or any other corporate entity, to serve as our national gatekeeper.” Apple has not issued an official statement about the removal and Change**** says it will keep on collecting signatures until it does. The last-gen port was still missing something, and developer Steven Troughton-Smith knew where to find it: a jailbroken iPhone 4S. In an interview with 9to5mac, Troughton-Smith said that getting Siri to talk to Cupertino's data servers only took ten minutes after he had all of the pieces in place. Ready for your personal assistant port? Hold the phone, the process is a bit dodgy -- our hacking hero said that getting Siri on the older device is a 20-step process, and it requires files from the iPhone 4S that he says aren't his to distribute. When asked about distributing the hack over Cydia, Troughton-Smith said it was something he couldn't be a part of. On Twitter he suggested that a release would "anger the hive," but promised to post detailed notes on the hack after a iPhone 4S jailbreak drops.
