GAS PRICES DROP IN TIME FOR LABOR DAY WEEKEND, BUT POLL FINDS AMERICANS STILL WORRIED Consumers Press for Safe, Affordable Energy Alternatives AAA says the summer of 2006 was the most expensive summer ever for driving costs, but just in time for Labor Day Weekend, drivers will be happy to find lower prices at the pump. However, a new poll suggests that most Americans remain less than confident about our energy future. Gas prices remain at the mercy of Middle East tensions, and many consumers are concerned about our reliance on foreign oil. A recent Pew Research Center poll found only half of those surveyed believe the US can end its dependence on foreign oil within the next two decades. Some say high gas prices will force people to drastically alter driving habits; others say it's an opportunity to develop reliable and affordable alternative sources of fuel. The United States has more coal than any other country in the world, enough to last an estimated 250 years at current usage rates. Coal can produce clean hydrogen, and hydrogen vehicles are cleaner and produce fewer emissions. Projects like FutureGen zero pollution, carbon-neutral, coal-based energy facility-- will make it possible to use America's coal reserves to create low-cost electricity with almost no pollution, and will produce a bridge to hydrogen. Poverty stricken father seeking child’s help in performing traditional Rajasthani music and dance, is helping hand to father to meet house hold expenses and sending child to education. Child’s father explains as they are very poor with the burden to marry-away 6 sisters and feed family. He performs traditional dance and music in restaurants and traditional celebrations. Normally, he earns 40 to 50 US$ a week, he says “Is not enough to feed family. What to do when I do have education and knowledge of other earning means.” This child goes to school in the morning studying in 2nd standard, after school study and little homework participates in parent’s profession, Is this called a child labor? ILO defines “Not all work done by children should be classified as child labor that is to be targeted for elimination. Children’s or adolescents’ participation in work that does not affect their health and personal development or interfere with their schooling is generally regarded as being something positive. This includes activities such as helping their parents around the home, assisting in a family business or earning pocket money outside school hours and during school holidays. These kinds of activities contribute to children’s development and to the welfare of their families; they provide them with skills and experience, and help to prepare them to be productive members of society during their adult life.”
