I absolutely LOVE the energy and uptempo rhythm of Candy (Star)! Although the original song I did not ever used to play that much when the arcade at the Time Out Arcade got a DDRMAX2 machine in my Hometown when I was around 20 or 21 or so [yah... took a while ^^;]--this high energy rhythm, rhythm, tic, tic tune for some reason kept my ear. ^_^ A lot of times me and my sister and brother would first play a song, then Love (Heart) Shine, then do Candy (Star) then close with another song. It was shortly after I fell in love with the Paranoia (KCET) mix and wanted a "more fun version" of the heavy steps for Sexy Planet by the Crystal Aliens that I finally decided to make choice to re-create steps from scratch from a Dance Dance Revolution song that already existed. Before these songs, I had not ever considered it and wondered, "Why Bemanistyle users do a song that was already done and has totally fun and great steps?" Well--like any song! New steps could be created and it was just as fun doing my vision of a "fun 10 foot step version of Candy (Star)!" as doing stepcharts beforehand. The coolest part was that because the BPM and rhythm had already been preset for a file--for the very first time that I could-- I didn't use a program like DJ Basic to guide the BPM! =D Just went to creating the file and here was the result! ^_^ 10-Foot Fun Bliss!! =D ********** What I wanted to make was a yummy batch of candy! I actually had JUST gotten to where I could complete both Sakura on 10-foot mode with an A and Max 300 with a C. Dance! Revolution!! ^_^ Your Future Is Coming On... =) ********** Ah, there are great memories attached to this song. This was the first Gorillaz song that I ever heard. The radio stations WJIZ and Z 96.3 in my hometown [technically "home city" of Albany, Georgia ^_^ population: 100,000 EXACTLY-more-or-less ^_^] would play this song sometimes. The stations were mostly popular music focusing on hip-hop, pop icons [think Brittney Spears and the likes =)] and at 16 years old--having heard this song on the radio brought me to be inspired to learn about the then-new group known as "Gorillaz." To be completely honest, I had NO idea that the rapper [who was the reason I liked the song at the time] was a featured member for "Clint Eastwood" only and even further... I had no idea what people meant when saying that "Gorillaz" was a "digital band." I just liked the song. ^_^ I liked the song so much in fact, that I purchased the album "Gorillaz" at the Marine Corps Logistics Base [MCLB] located just at the edge of the city shortly after I was blessed with my brother's Honda Prelude--a hand-me-down car with the backseats scratched out by his pet Siberian Husky Sapphire [because of the dog's naturally blue eyes--his right eye however half-blue-half brown o.o] with the 5th-gear grinded out of the manual transmission--a car that to this day I am glad to have had! =D When I placed the newly purchased CD into the CD player [BIG stuff back then as PCs were JUST starting to come with Compact Disc drivers along with Windows 95 and then-new Windows 98 SE =3] -- the first song I looked for was "Sunshine In A Bag." lol. I didn't even know the title! XD After flipping through track after track, I came back to it as the opening notes instantly became identified. =) "Clint Eastwood." Hmn. 'So THAT'S what the song is called' I thought to myself. I had no idea who he was at the time. [no joke.] My Stepchart's Future... Is Coming On... Is Coming on... Is coming on... ********** Three years later while I was creating stepcharts and posting them to Bemanistyle I came back across this song and remembered all of the dear memories attached. =) This stepchart ensued. At the time this stepchart was completed and shared, it was the only Gorillaz stepchart on Bemanistyle. =) I had just completed further studying shaping high quality stepcharts through the excellent guide by Udderdude and his twin brother [not identical but by age] MJ who created a guide to making high quality stepfiles. To this day, I still use Audacity for minor editing and DJ Basic for reading BPM to songs I like a lot. =) The stepchart was well received by those who downloaded the stepchart [well over 1,000 which was ROCKIN'! =D] and I got a special request from some Bemanistyle users to create a follow-up stepchart featuring another Gorillaz Song: 19-2000. I didn't know what that was. But I knew I had the CD and found out it was the "Cool Shoe Shine" song my younger brother and sister had mentioned one day during a conversation and made the follow up! ^_^ Request for the Soulchild remix version--did it! =D However... to this day... there is still not a single Gorillaz song that is closer to my heart than this super original track. =) Ironic today is EXACTLY 3 months from my 27th Birthday! Dance! Revolution!! ^_^ The Return To The Start! ********** Ah! The memories this stepchart brings! ^_^ Before Namco's Time Out Arcade ever introduced locally Dance Dance Revolution in the small city I grew up in [Albany, Georgia]; a "mini-mall" shopping complex meets in-door flea market run and maintained mostly by Asians [Koreans to be more exact!] so-named the Millennium Mall: introduced Pump It Up to the small city of Albany, Georgia! Although much thanks to a purchase made by my younger brother from a video game store so-named Babbage's in the Albany Mall Dance Dance Revolution became the very first "Dance Game" I ever played... Pump It Up was the first dance game I played on a foot Pad! =D This all happened during the time Dreamcast and Nintendo 64 were THE thing and "Dolphin" (GameCube) was being talked about. ^_^ At the time we began playing Pump It Up at the just-downtown Millennium Mall -- I had not ever seen anything like it! Sure playing DDR was fun and interesting and all--catching "Musical Arrows as Notes" in time with music with your hands but THIS--this was played with your feet! O.O I had recently turned 19 and had begun my first Spring Semester during my going-on second year at Darton College when I was virtually "dragged" onto the machine to give it a try. Didn't do so hot the first time. Second time either. The third time did a little better but was still in awe at how different this game was from the one at home [DDR on the Sony Playstation]. The music was enjoyable but was little like what was on DDR or local radio! Of course it was! It was all in Korean. ^_^ This in addition to the "5-Star" [5-point] dance pad--4 arrows and one "center step..." also was WOW! O.O The background animations playing out like a "Mini Story" or "Mini Anime Series" is what truly intrigued me about this video game. The original DDR we had at home had 3D rendered backgrounds and designs but this was very different. Sometimes I'd skip my turn and watch my siblings play just to view the cool and sometimes bizarre backgrounds! [Space Fantasy!? Oh My GOD! Is that a molester in "Run To You!?"] However... I would not play "Comin' Back" for just-at 3-year's time when Putt-Putt would transform from Putt-Putt Golf And Games [which I grew up with] to The All American Fun Park [which had smoking hot employees o.o] and installed full-armed Laser Tag, a batting cage, and BOTH machines in the arcade: DDR & Pump It Up! Comin' Back To This Stepchart! ********** The "Light Steps" are meant to be a "remixed-rendition" of the original steps which to this day is still some of the most fun I have ever had in a Dance Chart hands-down! [for DDR or Pump! ^_^] At the time was only able to do the first two levels for some songs [drop to your hands on hardest!? WHOA! o.o] The "Standard Steps" essentially became my favorite set as the desire was to create a "4-arrow" fun song stepchart on-rhythm with the song in a style kind of like "Daikenkai" (Which I had only recently played at the time). Initially the "Heavy Steps" were "on-tempo" with the music, but after completing the chart--I went back over it a few months later to add a couple of arrows and made a mistake and offset the chart! ...It turned out to be a "Good mistake" as the "new" steps rode the rhythm and had a quirky feel to them that I really came to like. =) After sharing on Bemanistyle, I decided to leave it that way! And so the steps stayed minor offset and I hope you enjoy all 3 sets! =D Thank You for taking the time to read! =D Forever In Love With All That Which Exists (That Which Is Seen & Unseen, Known & Unknown), -WAM! WHOA! o.o] The "Standard Steps" essentially became my favorite set as the desire was to create a "4-arrow" fun song stepchart on-rhythm with the song in a style kind of like "Daikenkai" (Which I had only recently played at the time).
