This is something that differs from academy to academy, and is hard to answer in any kind of "universal" way. One thing I can say is that at Black Diamond Mixed Martial Arts here in Rhode Island, we have children starting at 5 and a half years old, and we have people training in adult classes from age 18 to 55!
