Persona 4 Arena review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Persona 4 Arena for XBox 360 and PlayStation 3. It's the desperate fighting competition among high school students... or so it claims. "IT" being a strange television program on that creepy Midnight Channel that the gang thought they dealt with back in Persona 4. Well, they were WRONG. And now Aigis and Mitsuru and Akihiko have shown up to help settle things... WITH THEIR FISTS. Yeah, it's kind of a stretch, but it's a very even, very well-stretched stretch. This video review features video gameplay footage of Persona 4 Arena for XBox 360 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 for PlayStation 2. There. We're done with the nuts and bolts, let's get into Persona 4 as a piece of gaming art. From the striking yellow-on-orange aesthetic, to excellent character design by Shigenori Soejima (Trauma Center, Catherine) to the hard-hitting issues like sexuality, duplicity, personal resentment, and the role of mass media in our lives, this is more than just a 100-hour level grind. Let me step back into my "film analysis" shoes, if only for three minutes. I'd be doing a horrible disservice to this game if I didn't. This video review features video gameplay footage of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 for PS2 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 for PlayStation 2. I'm breaking this review in half, because if any game deserves it, it's this 100-hour mustard-tinged monstrosity. A sleepy mountain town is rocked by serial homicides, and it's up to one detective... yeah, right. This is a JRPG. It's up to the detective's NEPHEW and a team of high-school students to jump into televisions, slaughter shadows, and confront their inner conflicts made manifest in tarot-centric turn-based combat. Eat absurdly hot tofu ramen to improve your courage! Play with a cat to enhance understanding and compassion! Use these traits to get a hot date! If only high school were this interesting. (Well, without the "fog killing people" part.) This video review features video gameplay footage of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 4 for PS2 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow video game review of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES (The Journey), an RPG developed by and published in 2007 by Atlus for the PlayStation 2. Persona had been around this block, but this version gave it more than just a new coat of paint. The entire experience, from battle system to aesthetic to interaction, was overhauled for this breakout hit. As the lonely few who don't become coffins during the Dark Hour, it's up to you to stop a doomsday cult and learn the true form of mankind's despair. This CGRundertow video game review features video gameplay footage of Shin Megami Tensei: Persona 3 FES (The Journey) for the PlayStation 2 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

Persona 4 Golden review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Persona 4 Golden for PlayStation Vita. Atlus are seriously turning me off the idea of buying Persona 5 once it comes out... because their track record with "Re-releases that fix all the little annoyances" is outstanding. (Well, as far as SMT goes.) Persona 4 (the) Golden takes us back to Inaba, with a couple more Social Links, a couple streamlined systems, a few mechanical improvements, multiplayer "Rescue" support (which seems really weird, but I'll take it) and an HD overhaul. Nice timing, too, for a game that's seen a resurgence in interest following a very well-done anime interpretation and strange fighting game spinoff. Don't change that channel. This video review features video gameplay footage of Persona 4 Golden for Persona 4 Golden and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

Persona 4 Golden Solid Gold Premium Edition review. Classic Game Room presents a CGRundertow review of Persona 4 Golden Solid Gold Premium Edition for PlayStation Vita. It's nice to know that there are still special editions out there with genuinely awesome stuff. For every disappointment (coughFINALFANTASYXIVcough) there's gotta be a shining example of how to do it right, and this Solid Gold Premium Edition is a fantastic example. Stickers would be cool, a face decal and matching wallpaper is a nice touch, but a protective travel case -and- face-covering shell for the Vita? That's a pretty sweet touch. I might just have to go tie an anchor to Ryan's biscuit-eating arm and swipe his Vita for myself. This video review features video gameplay footage of Persona 4 Golden Solid Gold Premium Edition for PlayStation Vita (and Paper Mario: Sticker Star for Nintendo 3DS) and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.

Persona 2: Eternal Punishment review. Classic Game Room presents a CGR Undertow review of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment for Sony PlayStation developed by Atlus and published by Sony. There are two sides to the game we know as "Persona 2": Innocent Sin (originally released only in Japan, but now available on PSP) and Eternal Punishment (originally available in the States, despite heavily referencing the events of IS). Now we have both halves of the story available through PSN, and transferable to your PSP for demon-negotiating on the go. Investigative journalist Maya is sent to report on the disturbances at a local school, but gets pulled into a spiral of demonic presences and powerful personas, presided over by an escaped lunatic serial murder. This video review features video gameplay footage of Persona 2: Eternal Punishment for PS1 and audio commentary from Classic Game Room's TJ.
