Real Deal Comix trades in what it calls the genre of Urban Chaos — a satiric depiction of the madness that occurs in the urban centers of America. Each story details the everyday struggles of the urban dwellers who go off on each other out of the rage and futility that their lives bring them. These people live on the edge of a precipice, where everyday tasks like going to the store or buying gas requires a stand-or-back-down attitude to survive. Every story ends in mayhem. Join G.C., Ace Brogan, and Slick Willie in their adventures in da’ hood, and remember, they live a real man’s life: no matter what, they never back down. Real Deal Magazine (“More Rage per Page, More Slaughter for your Dollar”) was a self-published independent comic book created in the 1990s by Lawrence Hubbard (a.k.a. “Raw Dog”) and H.P. McElwee (a.k.a. “R.D. Bone”) and inspired by magazines like Mad and traditional superhero comics but satirizing Blaxploitation movies with a cast of convicts, hustlers, drug addicts, crack whores, car thieves, and murderers. Real Deal has achieved cult status over the years, especially amongst underground artists and counterculture circles, and has even been featured in a line of t-shirts from Stüssy, but has never been collected …until now. This full-color hardcover features gold foil debossing on the cover, while the interiors feature a variety of paper stocks that showcases the Real Deal aesthetic.

Oddwell is a fantasy epic about a Warrior Frog, with a robotic arm, from the world of Zamanga, a beautifully dangerous world with adventure lurking around every other corner. This is the story of his quest to find a cure to save a princess and the world. The book is published by SBI Press (Starburns Industries - Rick and Morty, Moral Oral and more). The preview, Flyra’s Flight, comes out in Starburns Presents on Free Comic Book Day and the regular series begins release in September 2018! Off Shoot Comics was started by Walter Bryant and David Clarke as a way to publish comic books that show a variety of hero archetypes and stories. David Clarke started off as an avid anime fan and met Walter Bryant via his fandom. Inspired by the "Gundam" series, David pursued his interest in creative writing. Walter is a lifelong fan of comics and notably "Superman", and has always held a passion for drawing and creating comics. Noticing that many of the stories they admired had the “same old” tropes and archetypes, they wanted to expand, broaden, and show more diversity in their storytelling. Combining their love for comics and manga, David and Walter formed their own comic book company to fill the gaps. Both creatives are sons of pastors, and therefore create stories that generally abstain from strong language, excessive violence, and explicit material. David and Walter hope to diversify the fictional landscape of the entertainment industry in all media, starting with their comic book stories, animated content and Y/A books for publication. In addition to comic books, Off Shoot Comics hosts a Youtube channel dedicated to their admiration for comics, manga, video games, and television.

Bohemia Interactive today announced that DayZ, the open world, online survival game, is launching worldwide on PC on December 13th. Originally releasing as a Steam Early Access title in 2013, DayZ has attracted over 4,000,000 players and received a complete technology overhaul during its 5 years of development, along with numerous new features. The post-soviet country of Chernarus is struck by an unknown virus, turning the majority population into frenzied infected. Fighting over resources has bred a hostile mentality among survivors, driving what’s left of humanity to collapse. You are one of the few immune to the virus – how far will you go to survive? DayZ is an unforgiving, authentic survival experience. Up to 60 survivors on a server engage in a completely unscripted gameplay scenario with no goals given, except for one: to survive as long as they can, by all means necessary. There are no superficial tips, way-points, built-in tutorials, or help given to players. Every decision matters, and every mistake can be lethal. If you die in DayZ, you lose all your character progress and start over, as the game features a permadeath concept. In DayZ, hostile player interactions – or simply just struggling through severe weather – can easily turn into intense, nerve-racking moments where you experience very real emotions. On the other hand, meeting with another friendly survivor in DayZ can lead to a true friendship that lasts a lifetime.

Backworlds is a multi-dimensional puzzle-platform game in which you explore by painting. Move between two parallel worlds, each with its own unique set of properties, using your brush to flow seamlessly from one to the other. Solve environmental conundrums by using each world’s physical properties to your advantage, and use your own creativity to craft original solutions to the game’s puzzles. Nine years in the making, featuring a gorgeous hand-painted art style and proprietary engine technology, Backworlds aspires to bring player freedom to the puzzle genre. It’s due to release for PC in early 2019. Logic Ember was founded by Juha Kangas and Anders Ekermo, a pair of games industry veterans whose combined game design and engineering credits include The Darkness, Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena, Syndicate and StarCraft II, as well as a variety of indie projects. The pair operate as a fluid team, both contributing to game design, art, and programming. For Backworlds, Kangas and Ekermo have teamed up with sound designer Chris Randle (Volume, Subsurface Circular) and BAFTA-nominated composer David Housden (Thomas Was Alone, Q.U.B.E. 2) to ensure the game is as much a feast for the ears as it is for the eyes and the mind.
