Hot Bollywood bombshell Katrina Kaif has landed herself in a big controversy after she compared herself with the Congress leader Rahul Gandhi.
The terrorist assault on Mumbai was an attack on the idea of India and the freedom of its people, Congress general secretary Rahul Gandhi told parliament Thursday. The terrorist attack on Mumbai was an attack on the whole nation. It was an attack on the idea of India. It was an attack on all of us, it was an attack on the freedom of our people, Gandhi told the Lok Sabha while participating in a debate on the Nov 26 terrorist strike. It is a new kind of warfare against India. Terrorists view and attack us as their enemies. We must also respond as one. Fight against terrorism is a national priority and we must put the nation first, he said. Making an emotional plea, Gandhi, MP from Amethi and son of Congress president Sonia Gandhi, said: We can fight terrorism only if we believe that every Indian life is worth fighting for. The central thing to change is how we view the life of an ordinary people. Speaking out against politicisation of police forces, he said: As a young politician I would like to say that in the interest of the country we must desist from it. Also, that in the interest of common people we must stop interfering in the working of these institutions. He also noted: People from every region and every religion have raised their voice for those who lost their lives in the Mumbai terror attack. I am sure we will win the fight against terrorism.

Rahul Gandhi gave a call to the youth of the country to come forward and take the country on the pinnacle of progress and development. Congress General Secretary stated that India will very soon become a leading nation in the globe on the basis of the power of youth of India.
There are many welfare schemes made at the centre but the real victory is achieved only if those schemes are implemented properly by all concerned, said Rahul Gandhi. Some of the states are properly implementing the policies in the proper way but some states don’t care to take the policies to the masses with its full spirit. This serious deficiency should be rectified.
Future of children in UP was being “spoilt” for lack of education, Rahul Gandhi promised to make all-out efforts to bring back a Congress government which would focus on education which is at the core of development.
Addressing a function on social harmony here, he said “on my visits to Uttar Pradesh schools, I have found that the condition of Dalit students is very bad in government-run schools and these students are only confined to back benches”.
“A similar pitiable condition was there when I visited today a Dalit brother who makes shoes and asked him as to what help he got from the government”, Rahul said adding this scene was common everywhere he visits--be it schools, industrial units or villages under the government which is said to be that of Dalits.
“Without good education a child cannot rise, cannot get employment and he would keep wandering all his life”, Rahul Gandhi said.
“In UP, the future of children is being spoiled for lack of education and the focus should be on their future by providing them enough educational opportunities”, he said.
Rahul said development comes through education and he would make all-out efforts so that Congress can form the next Congress government in the state.
Rahul Gandhi talked clearly that he wants more development in UP especially in Amethi. There a lot of schemes made by the Central Government, but the implementation is not proper by many states. We should concentrate on further development in the fields of education, health etc. I wish these developments be start from Amethi.
On 15 March 2008, Rahul Gandhi visited a dalit family in an Etawah village whose five members had been killed by dacoits. They were Jatavs. Next month, Rahul Gandhi visited Ghisauli village in Jhansi, and when told by dalits that fleeting visits did not help, he returned a week later and took a delegation of 300 dalits to the district commissioner to demand fair wages under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA). The dalits were Jatavs, known there as “ahirwal”. After the event, the dalits he met, including Shanti Devi, he had a meal with.
Whenever I go to villages and meet dalits, advisasi, backward and poor people, opposition parties ask why Rahul Gandhi visits
villages. Rahul Gandhi goes to villages because he understands that the real strength is in the hands of the poor and backward
people of the country and the future of the country is also in their hands. UPA Government does whatever possible for the poor
and they made a number of good schemes like NREGA which assures guaranteed job for the poor. Poor and dalit people are the
major beneficiaries of NREGA said Rahul Gandhi. But U.P Government could not implement NREGA properly and most of the
poor people in U.P do not have proper awareness about NREGA.
