Aero-TV: Mike Sigman Talks About His Personal LSA -- A Zodiac 601XL The cheerful troops that populate Aero-TV news teams sure do enjoy checking out all manner of neat aircraft with the companies that manufacture them, but sometimes it's just plain fun to talk to the folks who (ultimately) build and fly them... personally. Mike Sigman is just one of those folks. A builder of a Zodiac 601XL, we caught up with Mike at Arlington's Northwest EAA Fly-In last summer and chatted with him about his personal choice for an LSA... how it went together during the building process, and now that he was finished -- how he liked it all. Mike told us he was looking for a cross-country aircraft that was good on fuel, dependable and reasonably priced. He wanted to build 'all-metal,' but he did NOT want to buck rivets (the Zodiac uses the Avex 'pop' riveting system), and finally, he wanted a Jabiru engine for the front end... and thereupon decided upon the Zodiac. The ZODIAC XL is a completely new model of the ZODIAC kit aircraft series, optimized for the proposed Sport Pilot category. The ZODIAC XL features a completely new wing design, landing gear and fuselage. The tail sections are the only components common with all ZODIAC models. Fort those who are more interested in flying than building, but STILL want the opportunity to get to know their bird "inside and out," Zenith can supply a Quick-Build Kit (supplied "firewall-back" to allow for easy installation of your choice of engine -- whether it be Jabiru 3300, Continental O-200, Rotax 912S, Corvair, or others). The kit includes all airframe parts, including landing gear (tricycle), standard fuel system, canopy, controls, and all hardware required to finish the airframe assembly. Standard features of the airframe kit include electric elevator trim tab, extended rear baggage compartment, wheels with hydraulic disk brakes, and more. Not included in the airframe kit: powerplant, instruments package, and paint. The Quick-Build Kit includes the larger wing tanks (15 US gal. each) for added range and endurance. Check In With Aero-TV To See If Mike Sigman Thinks He Made A Good Choice With The Zodiac 601XL... FMI: www.zenithair**** Copyright 2008, Aero-News Network, Inc., ALL Rights Reserved

This is a short clip from an early b&w Mickey Mouse cartoon called "The Opry House". It shows the first time in an animated film where the "Hungarian Rhapsody No. 2 in C-sharp minor" is used. This tune would become famous in animation history due to later cartoons such as "Rhapsody in Rivets", "The Cat Concerto" and "Rhapsody Rabbit". And if you watch closely, you'll see that "Rhapsody Rabbit" borrowed heavily upon this performance by Mickey, as they use the same general situation and have a number of similar gags.

Tips Industries are all set to race to the finishing line with their largest and most ambitious film ever -- RACE -- an exciting, suspense filled, slick blockbuster that is going to keep viewers on the edges of their seats. An out and out thriller with outstanding characterization, a breathtaking story line, laced with intrigue, murder, double crossing and betrayal. RACE, expected to be the biggest film of 2008, boasts of a star cast that looks like a lineup of the Who's Who of the industry -- Saif Ali Khan, Anil Kapoor, Akshaye Khanna, Katrina Kaif, Bipasha Basu and Sameera Reddy -- who come up with riveting performances and succeed in making the film a spine tingling experience. The music is a perfect foil to this unique film. Pritam has come up with a completely international feel -- reflecting the raw energy, passion, intrigue, darkness and pace of the thriller. Youthful, racy and eminently danceable tracks, cut through an array of grooves and metres. Tips, the makers such slick films as RAAZ and Soldier & Raja Hindustani, have ensured that the picturisation of the songs is stunning -- colourful, flamboyant, in one simple word -- BIG -- with sexy women gyrating on the screen, oozing oomph. The title track, Race Saanson Ki, rendered by Sunidhi Chauhan and Neeraj, is as breathtaking as the opening lines suggest. The duo are repeated in Race is on my mind, a track through which Pritam makes you feel into the energy that the protagonists of the story find themselves in. Shaan and KK, those darlings of the youthful generation, join Sunidhi to create magic in Dekho Nashe Me, which is also presented in a Latin Fiesta Mix version. Music lovers will hear some new and unconventional voices too. Apache Indian raps along with Sunidhi in Mujh Pe To Jadoo where they are joined by Taz -- Stereo Nation the pioneer of pop fusion. Another fresh voice -- Monali -- will wow listeners with her command over the idiom in the sensual Zara Zara Touch Me and its Asian RnB mix version. Pehli Nazar is the most soulful track of the film. Rendered in the haunting voice of Atif Aslam the new-age pop sensation, the song delves into depths of feeling and melody. This also the first time the genius of Pritam and Atif Aslam are finding joint expression. So music lovers have a treat ahead for them -- superlative music of a blockbuster from a super banner. Race to the music shops!

A little known treasure, Inner Sanctum is a gripping film noir journey through secrets, lies, and murder. The film follows three disturbingly connected stories: the talented Charles Russell stars as a dark and broken man who viciously kills his wife; a troubled little boy who witnesses the murder; and the fatally beautiful Mary Beth Hughes is a sexy young woman who’s been told she’ll die soon by a psychic gypsy. Winding up in the same boarding house as all three run from their dark secrets, their crossing paths create hair raising tension and subtle complexities. In particular, Russell and Hughes engage in an electric love affair. But what elevates Inner Sanctum to the next level are the riveting twists and turns as the film boils to a devastating finish.

A riveting Film Noir ride, Impact is the gripping struggle of a man rebuilding a shattered life. 1940s Noir superstar Brian Donlevy stars as Walter Williams, a successful businessman whose wife despises him to the point of plotting his murder! The femme fatale is the sensuous Helen Walker, who arranges with her lover to kill her husband in a rigged car accident. Taking a rather Hitchcockian turn, it’s her lover who’s killed while her husband escapes unharmed! Donlevy, aware of what his wife has done and the state of his existence, scuttles away to a small town to start a new life – but will his past catch up to him? With expert production, Impact is a darkly artistic film that shows off San Francisco in the 1940s beautifully. On top of the sparkling direction, Brian Donlevy leads an all star cast of superb actors, rocketing Impact to the status of classic.

This bizarre short film stars the iconic Shirley Temple in one of her earliest and strangest roles. War Babies is part of the “Baby Burlesk” series that parodied films for adults with the mature characters played by young children. Temple is a dancer in a dark nightclub populated by soldiers. The kid soldiers drink milk, but still ogle Temple like grownups. The surrealism continues as the soldiers try to pick Temple up, and eventually get in a fight over her. War Babies is rivetingly cutsey and shocking: stepping back through time to an era with different values, War Babies stands out as a mixture of dainty entertainment and borderline Lolita.

The film New Neighbor describes the process it took to build Fairless Steel Mill and its accompanying steelworkers' housing development, Fairless Hills, from the early stages of engineering and site selection to the construction itself and the dedication ceremonies for the finished plant two years later. Named after the Chairman and CEO of U.S. Steel, the Fairless plant was the largest mill of its kind built all at one time. The concerns of the surrounding Morrisville, Pennsylvania community on the effects of industrialization on population, such as air and water pollution, are addressed, and cooperation with school boards, hospital committees, planning commissions, etc is shown. There is very interesting footage of all the stages of the construction of steel in the 1950s, including excavation, concrete pouring, building furnaces, driving rivets, a water treatment plant, power lines, and much more. This is truly a treatise on the history of steel in America and engineering history. The human phases of development, such as architects designing the plant and residential community, and job interviews for the workers, are documented as well. Footage of the dedication ceremony shows Fairless’s wife and granddaughter christening and lighting the furnaces with their namesake, as well as Mrs. Fairless giving a dedication speech. New Neighbor is a great piece of the history of the steel industry.
