Prince William and Kate Middleton are getting married in July 2011-- well, if you believe the British bookies anyway. Rumors of a royal engagement have come and gone during Kate and Will’s eight-year courtship, but for some reason, those rumors have hit a fevered pitch. So what exactly are the clues that the prince is about to put a ring on it? Let’s start with Radar Online. “The engagement announcement is anticipated to come shortly after the Royals spend Christmas together, with the wedding scheduled for next summer.” The article claims this to be true due to quote “recent developments” Well, here’s one of those recent developments from ABC. “Kate and William were just snapped arriving at a wedding together. For those who read the tea leaves, that was a huge deal. The Daily Mail just published snaps of Kate’s mother learning how to hunt dear on a royal estate. You gotta know how to kill animals if you’re going to hang hard with the Windsor clan.” It doesn’t stop there. The Washington Post relays a rumor that Ms. Middleton has had already found her wedding dress designer. “...the plot thickens -- Kate reportedly wore a dress custom-designed by designer Daniella Issa Helayel who -- DING DING DING -- also designs wedding dresses.” And according to NBC, even the palace is prepared for William to drop to one knee. REPORTER: “The most serious sign? Jobson says Scotland Yard is now grooming a personal bodyguard for the middle-class fiance who could one day be Queen.” ROBERT JOBSON (News of the World Editor) “From the moment Kate becomes engaged, everything around her changes. She’s going to have a guy with a gun standing next to her most of the time.” Of course a royal wedding would be exciting-- but one Telegraph reporter says, it’s not just the celebrity factor that’s got people betting on this rumor. “What the oft-repeated dismissal of the self-made Middletons as being too ‘middle class’ for the hoity-toity haute when [William] gets down on one knee and asks for the hand in marriage of his middle-class, middle-of-the-road, middle-England Middleton, it will be a sweet moment of victory, for Kate -- and for all she represents.” The Times of India reports the odds are so high for a 2011 wedding that some UK bookmakers are no longer accepting bets on this royal rumor. The Palace will stay mum on the issue until the Prince officially pops the question.

BY BRICE SANDER ANCHOR JENNIFER MECKLES You're watching multisource entertainment news analysis from Newsy It’s the event of the year- or century- or millennium- depending on how excited you are about the upcoming nuptials of Prince William and Kate Middleton. So, who nabbed an invite? England’s The Daily Mail leaked what it believes to be an official guest list, which includes celebrities like David and Victoria Beckham, Elton John and even Kanye West. (BBC) But it’s some unexpected names, not the big celebs, drawing the most interest. A “royal watcher” tells NBC, the wedding’s all about playing politics. KEIR SIMMONS: “Many of the guests are people the couple are not close to, or even, may not know.” NEIL SEAN: “Whatever you may think about a royal wedding, it’s all pre-decided. And, basically, it is a networking, business venture. You know, the royal family invite people you wouldn’t necessarily know. Why would they know, you know, a king of wherever or whatever?” Reports say William and Kate invited only 250 guests, while their families chose the remaining 1,700 or so. The Daily Mail suggests it’s normal for the family to have a say, but as for their choices? Well...not so normal. “The names include everyone from friends and family to the great and the good. But by far the most surprising are those who have been invited by Prince Charles. Along with [a Texas banker], he has also invited a Transylvanian count, a Nazi's nephew, and a Kazakh tycoon.” And since this is not technically a state event, some heads of state - like President Obama - didn’t make the cut. But as Gawker’s Mark Read argues, Obama should’ve topped some of William and Kate’s picks. “...six of their exes (four of William's and two of Kate's) have been invited to the wedding. Also invited: A bunch of people you've never heard of, who are nonetheless richer than you, including an actual human person named Isabella Anstruther-Gough-Calthorpe.” With room for ex-girlfriends and Nazi nephews, there must be room for plus-ones, right? Britain's The Telegraph says, eh, not so fast- “While the invitations to Prince William and Kate Middleton's wedding have caused delight in some of Britain's best-connected households, they have, sadly, provoked marital discord in many others … hundreds of the guests have been banned from bringing their wives or husbands." But a wedding planner explains to the BBC the reasoning behind the lengthy, yet selective, guest list -- not every one's getting into every part of the big day. MARK NIEMIERKO: “You’ve also got to remember, as well, that the ceremony is going to be the big event, that you’ll have 1,900 people invited to. Then there’s only 600 people coming to the lunchtime reception, which is hosted by the Queen. Then the really intimate ceremony - event, rather - will be the evening reception hosted by Prince Charles, and I would imagine we won’t even have our own prime minister invited to that. That will be really close family and friends.” And, don’t worry. If you didn’t snag an invite to the nuptials, you can still catch it on TV. Networks like CBS, NBC and E! Entertainment plan to broadcast coverage all day on April 29th. 'Like' Newsy on Facebook for updates in your news feed Get more multisource video news analysis from Newsy Transcript by Newsy
