Whip Rush review. Classic Game Room reviews WHIP RUSH for Sega Genesis from 1990 by Renovation Products! Whip Rush is a cool 2D horizontally scrolling shoot 'em up, or SHMUP, where you pilot the space ship Whip Rush against Voltegian alien scumbags trying to attack Earth because they are stupid! Voltegia will be ours!! Whip Rush has predictable early '90s SHMUP style gameplay with rotating gun pods and weapon power ups like R-Type meets Gradius. CGR Whip Rush video review features Whip Rush Sega Genesis gameplay recorded from the 16 bit Sega Genesis (aka Sega Mega Drive)

EnbornX review. Classic Game Room reviews ENBORN-X for iPad (also available for Android platforms) with the iCade arcade style joystick controller! EnbornX for iPad and Android platforms is an anime style shoot 'em up, or SHMUP, where you pilot an armored girl through space and shoot end bosses with a variety of weapons. CGR Enborn-X video review has gameplay from EnbornX game play recorded from iPad 2 in an iCade arcade style joystick controller and buttons. Enborn X is a good looking SHMUP for iPad which plays well with the iCade controller and has a boss rush feel to it where can blow the bosses up right away or pick them to pieces for a higher score.

Bomber Raid review. Classic Game Room reviews BOMBER RAID for Sega Master System from 1988 by Activision. Bomber Raid is a vertical scrolling 2D SHMUP (shoot em up) airplane shooter like Capcom's 1943 or Star Soldier. You pilot a jet plane (maybe?), that judging by the cover looks like an SR-71 Blackbird, but in the game looks like a P-51 or Spitfire. Mow down enemies with your machine gun fire that can be upgraded by collecting the P power ups. This Bomber Raid video review on Sega Master System shows Bomber Raid SMS gameplay from the Power Base Converter for Sega Genesis (aka Mega Drive)

Xenon 2 Megablast review. *******www.ClassicGameRoom**** Classic Game Room reviews XENON 2 MEGABLAST for Nintendo Game Boy from 1992. Shoot aliens without mercy as your destroy the universe (or galaxy or whatever) in this awesome SHMUP with the fancy name. CGR Xenon 2 video review features Xenon 2 gameplay recorded from the Nintendo Gameboy Advance SP, but Xenon 2 will obviously play on the old school Game Boy as well. It's most famous for the Amiga version with the awesome MEGABLAST music (that the Game Boy version doesn't do too well), but fans can also pick up Xenon 2 for Atari ST, PC, Sega Mega Drive and Sega Master System.

Classic Game Room reviews ZANAC for NES from FCI and Compile, a vertical scrolling space ship shooter released in 1986 for the Nintendo Entertainment System. Zanac is a SHMUP with awesome music and a unique weapons power up system that defies ordinary. Collect numbers 1-7 (and upgrade them) to waste waves of enemies that come at you in oddball formations while spewing bullets all over the screen. Zanac is not for the casual shooter fan or those looking for a relaxing game. The adaptive A.I. learns how you play and evidently hates you (or at least it hates me) because it just goes crazy and fills the screen with enemies. SHMUP spaceship shooter fans may dig the challenge and unorthodox gameplay in Zanac that makes it unique in a sea of similar games. It may be rough around the edges but does pack cool ideas, solid gameplay and great music. This CGR review of Zanac for NES has Zanac gameplay from FCI and Compiles showing Nintendo Zanac game play in HD action. Zanac can also be found on the Nintendo Wii Virtual Console for download.

Waste waves of alien bad guys with your space ship outfitted with a variety of armor / weapon power ups. Cool armor collection system, G (gold) purchases and amazing graphics and sound will bombard your senses with sheer awesomeness. This CGR review of Alpha Mission II has gameplay from Alpha Mission 2 on Playstation 3 PS3 showing Alpha Mission 2 game play from SNK in HD action.

Classic Game Room reviews DUX for Sega Dreamcast, a 2009 "indie" release for the game console that won't stop rocking! This CGR review of DUX for Sega Dreamcast from Hucast**** and Kontechs has gameplay from Dux, a horizontally scrolling space ship shooter or "SHMUP" for Sega Dreamcast where you fly a spaceship against endless waves of alien scumbags! Cool visuals, awesome music and a fun R-Type style make Dux a treat to play for serious fans of the genre. While the game could have used more options the overall presentation is "indie" and slick while still being playable and fun. Region-free, Dux works on all game consoles (CGR was not able to confirm this on a PAL Dreamcast though), it outputs NTSC and VGA video. Plays with the standard Dreamcast controller or arcade sticks and saves your high scores on Dreamcast VMU card. Dux is a fun space ship shooter in the side scrolling Shmup genre and proves that the Dreamcast has many more years ahead of it!

Classic Game Room reviews BATSUGUN for Sega Saturn from developer Toaplan, a 1993 SHMUP style arcade space ship shooter which found its way onto the Japanese Sega Saturn in 1996. Regarded as a bullet hell style shooter, Batsugan shares much in common with other Toaplan shooters such as Truxton and Fireshark with its straight forward 2D gameplay and crushing difficulty. This CGR review of Batsugun has gameplay from the Japanese Sega Saturn release of the vertical scrolling Saturn shooter Batsugun with videogame game play action.
