The TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) has been doing repairwork in the subway tunnel between St. George Station and Bay Station. During that time, the East-West Bloor-Danforth Subway was diverted at Museum Station. This gave us a rare opportunity to see Lower Bay Station, also called the Ghost Station. It is a subway station that was used for six months in 1966 but that has not been used since, except as a training space for subway staff and as a set for movie shoots. A lot of scenes for American movies have been shot here. There are obviously no people in this station, and it is dirtier than the others, but it is just a normal subway station that does not differ in any way from the upper level of Bay Station. It is just a bit of romanticism that drives us to see it.

Facility uses solar power to generate, store clean-burning hydrogen
Reflecting an ongoing commitment to utilize renewable energy in its fleet operations, the Las Vegas Valley Water District (LVVWD), in partnership with the UNLV Research Foundation, dedicated a unique pilot hydrogen refueling station that operates entirely on solar power during an event April 12, 2007.
Funded in large part through a grant from the United States Department of Energy (DOE), the project is one of the first systems of its kind in the United States, said LVVWD Deputy General Manager Richard Wimmer.
"This project is just one example of the Water District's commitment to becoming a leader in incorporating sustainable practices into all aspects of its operations," Wimmer said during the dedication ceremony. "Our goal is to become a 100-percent alternative-fueled fleet by 2015." Alternative-fuel vehicles, including gas/electric hybrids and those utilizing compressed natural gas (CNG) and biodiesel, currently comprise 77 percent of the LVVWD's fleet.
