At the 19th 1st Annual Ig Nobel Prize Ceremony at Harvard University's Sanders Theater, a 22" sword was removed from Ig Nobel Laureate sword swallower Dan Meyer's throat by Nobel Prize Laureates Dr. Martin Chalfie and Dr. Wolfgang Ketterle. This amazing moving x-ray fluoroscope of sword swallower Dan Meyer swallowing a 30 inch long sword should convince skeptics that sword swallowing is REAL! Watch as the blade nudges past his heart, slides down the esophagus, and into his stomach! Dan was honored to receive the 2007 Ig Nobel Prize in Medicine at Harvard University for co-authoring the article "Sword Swallowing and it's side effects" published in the December 2006 BMJ British Medical Journal. Sword swallower Dan Meyer, co-winner of the 2007 Ig Nobel Prize in Medicine for the BMJ study "Sword Swallowing and Its Side Effects" accidentally replicated the findings of an earlier Ig Nobel Prize-winning study that involved a gorilla. This video shows it happening. The video was filmed during the 2010 Ig Nobel Tour of the UK for the UKs National Science & Engineering Week. The action happens in Liverpool, in front of the famous Cavern Club where The Beatles rose to fame. Dan and other tour lecturers made a pilgrimage to the Cavern Club. For historical purposes, Dan swallowed a sword in front of the club and attempted to sing. While doing so, tourists who were so intent on paying tribute to the Cavern Club did not even notice that — right in front of them — a man was performing the rare and dangerous act of swallowing a sword! Two of those tourists are visible at the end of the video. This curious aspect of human psychology was the focus of a project on selective attention that earned the 2004 Ig Nobel Prize in Psychology. Daniel Simons and Christopher Chabris were honored for demonstrating that when people pay close attention to something, its all too easy to overlook anything else — even a woman in a gorilla suit. Details of that experiment are in their study "Gorillas in Our Midst", vol. 28, Perception, 1999, pages 1059-74. Take a tour of Swallow's Nest in Yalta, Ukraine – part of the World’s Greatest Attractions series by GeoBeats. Its appearance is that of a fairy-tale castle, looking off a cliff to the sea. The Swallow's Nest is an amazing building, both in its design and its location. The castle is situated 130 feet above the Black Sea, on Aurora Cliff. It was built by Baron Von Steingel in 1911 and was sold just three years later. An earthquake in 1927 cracked the cliff and closed down the castle for forty years. In 1975 it was reopened as a restaurant, truly an amazing dinner location.

The Second Unique Jewel of the Collection Dedicated to Amy Winehouse designed and created by the Italian sculptor Emanuele Rubini is called BLACK SWALLOW. Il Secondo Gioiello Unico della collezione dedicata a Amy Winehouse disegnato e creato dallo scultore Italiano Emanuele Rubini si chiama RONDINE NERA. A marble swallow, light as a feather leans slightly like a caress on the neck of the woman who it wears. On the skin will be soft and enveloping, but especially ergonomic. The beauty and elegance of this Swallow lies in its apparent form sharp and pointed, from wings to the head, turned towards the sky as a sign of freedom. It is a true and its sculpture-jewel, designed for the woman who loves to be unique.
