A4E are a private sector company who have the government contract to run the New Deal program for the long-term unemployed in the UK. What a waste of taxpayers money A4E is. No wonder Emma Harrison, reputedly worth GBP 40 million, is always smiling. A4E have an entry in The Urban Dictionary, which defines them as "an organisation whose sole purpose is to make jobless peoples lives a misery by boring them to insanity with yellow walls and hollow tasks in a fascist dictatorship of jobsworth failures".

Having been forced to attend A4E Edinburgh on the New Deal program between July-Oct 2008, I know that A4E is a rip -off. Most claimants forced to attend A4E do not gain employment at the end of the 13-week course, which can be best described as mental torture.

BY CHRISTINA HARTMAN You're watching multisource politics news analysis from Newsy. Stricken from the official congressional record -- an embarrassing misstatement by Arizona Junior Senator Jon Kyl. It started earlier this month with this: SEN. JON KYL (R-AZ): “If you want an abortion, you go to Planned Parenthood. And that's well over 90% of what Planned Parenthood does.” The problem? KOLD-TV: “According to Planned Parenthood - the real figure is 3 percent.” Senator Kyl was arguing against federal funding for Planned Parenthood on the grounds the organization provides abortions. Cue the late night comics. JON STEWART: “I get those numbers mixed up a lot. 90%, Is it 3%, is it 90%? That’s why I have been buying 90% milk. Very hard to pour...” But KOLD reports - Senator Kyl’s office had a quick explanation for that... “Kyl’s office issued a statement saying the comment was not intended to be a factual statement.” “Not intended to be a factual statement.” Stephen Colbert had a field day with that one. COLBERT: “I decided to celebrate Jon Kyl's ground-breaking excuse-planation last night by tweeting round-the-clock non-facts about him. Such as... Jon Kyl calls all Asians ‘Neil’ no matter what their name is. (Applause) Both of which would be libelous if i hadn't added the hashtag #notintendedtobeafactualstatement (laughter)...” The latest -- the senator was able to get the misstatement stricken from the official record -- a perk of congressional membership. As Politico reports -- the record now reads Kyl said this... “If you want an abortion you go to Planned Parenthood and that is what Planned Parenthood does.” Striking the ACTUAL comments from the official record is completely legit - senators CAN edit their own entries. But interestingly - as of Friday evening the speech in its entirety – including the 90 percent thing -- can STILL be found on the senator’s own YouTube channel. Not that it would have done any good to take it down -- there’s plenty more copies where that came from. What there ISN’T a lot of -- CNN’s Howie Kurtz notes -- was media coverage of the gaffe. He tosses some explanations out with The Chicago Sun-Times’ Lynn Sweet. SWEET: “Maybe there is a lot of news and not enough people to write about everything. But when you take something from the Congressional record that you actually said and it's on video you get to a serious question where you push a story out." KURTZ: “I wonder if it has to do with the fact that Jon Kyl is not exactly a household name. If Michelle Bachmann said this, I bet everyone would have covered it.” Senator Kyl has admitted he misspoke on the 90 percent figure. As for the “not intended to be a factual statement” thing -- he says that came from his press person -- not him. Follow Newsy_Videos on Twitter. Get more multisource video news analysis from Newsy. BY JENNIFER MECKLES You're watching multisource U S news analysis from Newsy If you knew someone on the transplant list needed a new heart, would you support their fight for life? Most would say yes. But what if that person was a convicted child rapist, serving time in prison -- and relied on your tax dollars for the surgery -- Still on board? Albany’s WXXA has the story behind this very real situation right now in New York: “We’ve learned that a convicted rapist doing time in state prison down in Green County is being evaluated for a heart transplant -- A heart transplant that you and I would have to pay for. Kenneth Pike was flown from the Coxsackie Correctional Facility to a Rochester hospital where he’s now listed in guarded condition.” This story got strong reaction from local viewers... the taxpayers who would be expected to foot the estimated $800,000 hospital bill. Rochester, New York’s WHAM reports -- all the attention led to an unexpected decision from the prisoner, himself: “We have learned that Kenneth Pike may have had a change of heart. His sister, Sharon Cardinal tells 13 WHAM News, Pike doesn’t want the transplant. Cardinal told us quote -- ‘He told his kids he didn’t want it because he’s tired of living his life that way.’ Cardinal says Pike will return to prison in Green County this week, against the wishes of his children.” Pike’s story sparked discussion about the rights of the convicted nationwide. Fox News asks -- should prisoners be entitled to organ transplants? ANCHOR: “Isn’t this guy actually gaining a right he probably never had before, and thereby profiting from his heinous crime?” CHIP MERLIN: “There is no right for a law abiding citizen to have this type of treatment afforded to them. And there has been some concerns expressed regarding these donor cards that a lot of us have and we sign up for all the time -- that if we start allow convicted felons to get organs, a lot of people are going to stop signing up for this program.” A writer for Business First of Buffalo says he does NOT like the idea of funding life extensions for criminals, but after further consideration -- he raises these questions: “Who are we to play God? If we begin to deny medical treatment to prisoners for ‘major surgeries’ where does it stop? Soon some politician realizes we can slash the budget by cutting non-essential doctor’s visits, then we eliminate dental care. Before you know it, the prison system backslides closer to something we are used to reading about in a war-torn third-world dictatorships half a world away.” The story lit a fire under the state senator Michael Nozzolio, who represents that New York region. He is now calling for a special hearing to investigate organ transplants for prison inmates. The Auburn Citizen reports why: "A key concern mentioned in a press release issued by Nozzolio's office Monday is that inmates could potentially jump ahead of law-abiding citizens on the organ donor lists." The New York Post reports Pike is eligible for parole in 2013 - if he lives until then. Family members told the Associated Press Pike has already undergone triple bypass surgery, will likely die without the transplant. 2008 was an apocalyptic year for the American car industry, with sales of Ford, General Motors, and Chrysler cars all falling by 25 percent. Supporters of the Big Three automakers argue that the government needs to provide Detroit with at least $50 billion in taxpayer money in order to save the American car industry, on top of the billions of federally subsidized loans they've already received.
