On July 4, 1845, when Henry David Thoreau moved into his cabin on the shores of Walden Pond, he was probably unaware that his abode in the woods, and the impact and influence of that endeavor, would forever echo through time. Thoreau was an uncompromising idealist; an ardent maverick who criticized his fellow man. He urged that men and women ought to live more simply, and more deliberately. The mass of men, he famously wrote, lead lives of quite desperation. Yet the scope of Thoreaus message is much wider than social criticism. He speaks of spiritual transcendence in Nature and the unbounded potential of the individual. Thoreau is a dreamer and he speaks to dreamers. In aword, shun dogmatism and demagoguery; see beyond the immediate conventional religious explanations to reap a higher understanding. In our commodified contemporary American society, with the rise of religious intolerance and fundamentalism, materialism and mass consumerism, Thoreaus message is needed now more than ever. Author Kenny Luck has thumbed through Thoreaus voluminous journals, correspondences and other publications to make this the most comprehensive collection of Thoreau aphorisms available. Illustrators Jay Luke and Ren Adams lend their talents to artistically interpret Thoreau's vision. Each quote is accompanied by an original drawing. A collaboration of three individuals breathes new life into the immortal words of Henry David Thoreau. *******www.thumbingthroughthoreau**** kennytribute-books****

From the Drug War Soldiers movie set, the reading materials a young stoner may have had. Note the Book of Mormon Stash Book and the Autographed Harry Anslinger book that has clearly been used for weed de-stemming. The song in the background is Carol of the Buds by the Cannabis Chorus which is now available on ebay, itunes, and cdbaby. Thanks for watching, and thanks for reading! Capn & R.M. Floyd

this cute.... Insanity, or madness, is a general term for a semi-permanent, severe mental disorder. The concept has been used in a number of ways historically. Today it is most commonly encountered as a generic informal term, or in the more narrow legal context of criminal insanity. In the medical profession, it is nowadays avoided in favor of specific diagnoses of mental illness. In popular culture, "insane" could also refer to something extremely foolish, while persons may be deemed "insane" if their behavior strongly deviates from accepted social norms; in the past, insanity has been used to refer to individuals who have exhibited apathetic, cruel, hypersexual and homosexual behavior. The term is typically negative, but departure from established norms may also be seen as a positive quality; in this case, being "insane" is being daringly unconventional or individualistic. This use of insane is illustrated by the following quote from Henry David Thoreau's A Plea for Captain John Brown, an essay supporting the well-known militant abolitionist:

*******www.surfwisefilm****/ Like many American outsider-adventurers, Dorian "Doc" Paskowitz set out to realize a utopian dream. Abandoning a successful medical practice, he sought self-fulfillment by taking up the nomadic life of a surfer. But unlike other American searchers like Thoreau or Kerouac, Paskowitz took his wife and nine children along for the ride, all eleven of them living in a 24 foot camper. Together, they lived a life that would be unfathomable to most, but enviable to anyone who ever relinquished their dreams to a straight job. The Paskowitz Family proved that America may be running out of frontiers, but it hasn't run out of frontiersman. "Most parents say 'Go to school. Don't go swimming with sharks, that's dangerous. Our parents said, you can go swimming with sharks, but you're not fuckin' going to school—that shit's dangerous!" - Salvador Paskowitz, the 7th Paskowitz son OPENS 5/9

Is US headed for another great depression Or Great Opportunity? 503-454-0940 Is US headed for another great depression Or Great Opportunity? The Great Depression: Was A Time of Great Opportunity! The Great Depression like any business process is cyclic. Great depression generally occur every 75 years and last for a period of about 20 years! If you are looking to find YOUR way in this economy, "Prosperity & freedom is yours, if you want it!" Did you know that more millionaires were made during The Great Depression than in any other era in U.S. history? So what are the most common traits of the wealthy? They reject conventional wisdom. They understand the simple and powerful truths of money. They are creative, out-of-the-box thinkers. And often times, their greatest successes were birthed out of adversity. The Great Depression was an economic slump in North America, Europe, and other industrialized areas of the world that began in 1929 and lasted until about 1950. In the first essay, "Economy," Thoreau comments that most men are slaves to their work and enslaved to those for whom they work. He concludes: "The mass of men lead lives of quiet desperation. What is called resignation is confirmed desperation...." When USA economy falls African Americans will suffer the most. The last great depression 7 million people died. 80% of those people had farms. In 2008 about 5% have farms. You better help your people and discuss that. the great depression great depression unemployment during the great depression causes of great depression life during the great depression timeline of great depression causes of the great depression effects of the great depression who was the president during the great depression what were the effects of the great depression what caused the great depression books about the great depression great depression books great depression newspaper articles when did the great depression start how long did the great depression last articles on the great depression facts about the great depression great depression years pictures of the great depression political cartoons on the great depression what was the great depression when was the great depression children of the great depression when did the great depression end great depression timeline cause of great depression main causes of great depression women during the great depression men in the great depression entertainment during the great depression when did the great depression begin books on the great depression franklin d roosevelt and the great depression end of the great depression reasons for the great depression causes and effects of the great depression great depression pictures life in the great depression the great depression pictures farming during the great depression how did people survive the great depression 10 effects on the nation from the great depression advertisements on the radio during the great depression effects on the great depression great depression cartoon great depression during the 1930s preparing for the next great depression primary sources the great depression children the great depression timeline of the great depression to kill a mockingbird and the great depression
