Multimission, Multiservice, Twin-turbine, Vertical-lift, Tiltrotor Transport Aircraft. Bell-Boeing V-22 Osprey can carry 24 combat troops, or up to 20?000 pounds of internal cargo or 15,000 pounds of external cargo, at twice the speed of helicopter. It features a cross-coupled drive system so either engine can power the rotors if one engine fails. For shipboard compatibility, the rotors fold and the wing rotates to minimize the aircraft’s footprint for storage. The V-22 is the only vertical lift platform capable of rapid self-deployment to any theater of operation, worldwide.

A recent aerial demonstration was the cause of great alarm in our quiet neighborhood of Miraflores. Many residents rushed to their windows to see what was producing the extreme noise. The event took place on the 16th of February at 2 o’clock in the afternoon. El Sol Escuela de Español members of staff were just finishing their lunch when a great roar suddenly interrupted the sunny afternoon. The noise was intolerable and easily exceeded 65 decibels, the sound limit bearable for the human ear. A group of staff members went up to the roof of El Sol Escuela de Español in order to see what was happening. They were surprised to find that the noise was due to a small group of combat planes - F-16, Mirage 2000 and MIG-29 - that were tearing through our beautiful district’s skies, performing spectacular flying feats. The pilots responsible for this demonstration are members the United States Air Force (USAF) and the Peruvian Air Force (FAP). According to a press clip publicized on FAP’s website, their purpose was to demonstrate each military organization’s role of surveillance in the defense of their nation’s respective airspace. The prototype YF-22 won a fly-off competition against the Northrop/McDonnell-Douglas YF-23 for the Advanced Tactical Fighter contract. In April 1992, during flight testing after contract award, the first YF-22A prototype crashed while landing at Edwards Air Force Base in California. The test pilot, Tom Morgenfeld, was not injured and the cause of the crash was found to be a flight control software error that allowed and created a pilot-induced oscillation. The F-22 Raptor is a fifth generation stealth fighter aircraft. It was originally envisioned as an air superiority fighter for use against the Soviet Air Force, but is equipped for ground attack, electronic warfare and signals intelligence roles as well. Faced with a protracted development period, the prototype aircraft was designated YF-22 and, as F/A-22 during the three years before formally entering United States Air Force service in December 2005 as the F-22A. Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is the prime contractor and is responsible for the majority of the airframe, weapon systems and final assembly of the F-22. Along with Lockheed Martin, partner Boeing Integrated Defense Systems provides the wings, aft fuselage, avionics integration, and all of the pilot and maintenance training systems. The first production F-22 was delivered to Nellis Air Force Base, Nevada, on 14 January 2003. F-22 Dedicated Initial Operational Test and Evaluation occurred on 27 October 2004. As of late 2004, 51 Raptors were in service, with 22 more ordered under fiscal year 2004 funding. The first crash of a production F-22 occurred at Nellis Air Force Base on 20 December 2004, during takeoff. The pilot ejected safely moments before impact. The crash investigation revealed that a brief interruption in power during an engine shutdown prior to flight caused a malfunction in the flight-control system. The technical data for the aircraft has been amended to avoid this problem in the future. USAF officials were planning to reuse the remains into a new airframe. The dual afterburning Pratt & Whitney F119-PW-100 turbofans incorporate thrust vectoring. Thrust vectoring is in the pitch axis only, with a range of ±20 degrees. The maximum thrust is classified, though most sources place it at about 35,000 lbf (156 kN) per engine. Maximum speed is estimated to be Mach 1.72 in supercruise mode and without external weapons; with afterburners, it is "greater than Mach 2.0" (2,120 km/h), according to Lockheed Martin. The Raptor can easily exceed its design speed limits, particularly at low altitudes; max-speed alerts help prevent the pilot from exceeding the limits. General John P. Jumper, former U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff, flew the Raptor faster than Mach 1.7 without afterburners on January 13, 2005.

Let's Get Up Close And Personal With A Flying Legend Seen in a two part Aero-TV program a few weeks back, we talked about spending time with a ghost. In this case, the ghost looked a lot like a B-17... by the name of "Thunderbird." We're back with Thunderbird one more time... this time to do a walk-around of the grand old beast, to look her over from stem to stern and teach you a few things about one of the grandest birds to grace the skies. The B-17 Flying Fortress was an Army Air Corps heavy-duty bomber from World War II. These four-engine aircraft flew strategic bombing missions over Europe armed with .50 caliber machine guns and five thousand pounds of bombs. 13,000 B-17’s were produced over the course of the war, of which only 13 still are airworthy today. The Lone Star Flight Museum’s B-17 is painted in the colors of ‘Thunderbird’, an aircraft with the 303rd bomb group which flew 116 missions during World War II. The Lone Star Flight Museum tells ANN that it, a 501 (c)(3) self-supporting educational museum, began as a private aircraft collection in June 1985. The acquisition of more aircraft quickly led to a search for a new home. In 1990, construction of a 50,000 sq. ft. Phase I facility began at Galveston's Scholes Field. Continued rapid growth required construction of a 30,000 sq. ft. Phase II hangar in 1991. Along with the aircraft collection, the LSFM began to acquire and display aviation memorabilia and artifacts, develop educational programs, and recruit volunteers through a Membership Program implemented in July 1991. The LSFM receives over 35,000 of volunteer service hours each year. Many programs and participation opportunities are available for members to promote and support the LSFM mission. The Museum's flying collection of award winning aircraft annually logs more than 40,000 cross-country air miles to participate in flying displays and air shows. For instance, the Museum's P-47 Thunderbolt participates in the United States Air Force "Heritage Flight" program. Comprised of Air Force demonstration pilots and select vintage aircraft, the "Heritage Flight" unites the classic war birds of yesterday with current inventory jet fighters at aviation events across the country. This unique production takes the living history lesson to the public in the air and is seen by over 1.5 million people each year. You Know You Want to Do This... About The Veritas Show ------------------------- WHERE THE TRUTH WILL SET YOU FREE. The Veritas Show, hosted by Mel Fabregas. Mel deemed it important to create the equivalent of a "Veritas Show 101", so that you know exactly what the show is all about. As a matter of fact, if your new to this, Mel highly recommends you listen to this show. Mel has a requirement for anyone reading or listening to the show: BE SKEPTICAL BUT DON'T CLOSE YOUR MIND. Also, I hope you listen because YOU DON'T WANT TO BELIEVE, BUT BECAUSE YOU WANT TO KNOW. Veritas is Latin for Truth. More than a show, this is a movement set on informing the world, teaching and finding out everything about the hidden knowledge being kept secret from humanity. THE VERITAS SHOW: AN OASIS OF TRUTH AND LIGHT...... IN A DESERT OF DECEPTION AND DARKNESS Visit the site at : *******www.veritasshow**** --------------------------------------------------- This show was Aired Friday 5th December 2008 Milton Torres (Ret. USAF Maj.) is finally speaking about his UFO encounter. The British Ministry of Defense declassified his file in October, 2008. Milton Torres, a United States Air Force pilot who stated that on 20th May 1957 he was ordered to open fire on a UFO that was being tracked on radar. He was based at RAF Manston in Kent and was scrambled to intercept a UFO that had been tracked over Kent. He claims that he came within seconds of firing off a salvo of 24 rockets when the UFO accelerated away at a speed of around Mach 10. Torres stated that he was subsequently warned to stay silent about the incident and only mentioned it years afterwards, at a reunion. While Torres has gone on the record and given a number of media interviews, following the release of the documents from the MoD files, most people have not realised that the account in the MoD file is not an official USAF or MoD witness statement. It is a transcript of an interview with Torres, undertaken years after the event and forwarded to MoD by a ufologist. The ufologist then speculated that the incident was part of some secret test, which is patently false, as such tests would be conducted in the restricted airspace of various ranges over the sea. Needless to say, one does not conduct tests involving the potential firing of live weapons over the mainland UK! Torres is clearly an honourable man, recalling a difficult and potentially life threatening mission. But I would suggest that ufologists need to track down the original 1957 paperwork if they are to get to the bottom of this incident. Torres is not the only pilot to have been ordered to open fire on UFOs. General Parviz Jafari from Iran and Comandante Huertas from Peru were placed in similar positions and their stories, in their own words, can be found on the Coalition for Freedom of Information website. Check out *******www.freedomofinfo**** for further details.
