Liberace was known for taking Classical music and popularizing it. In the style of Liberace, I took Grieg’s “A Minor Piano Concerto” and Rimsky-Korsakov’s “Flight Of The Bumblebee,” added a twist of left hand Boogie-Woogie and created the BUMBLE BOOGIE CONCERTO. A kindly old gentleman who attended my concerts would always request Jack Fina’s “BUMBLE BOOGIE.” To honor his request, I decided to create my own arrangement using two Classical music favorites. Lolita Garrido, considerada como una de las mejores cantantes de boleros de los años 50, o incluso como la gran dama del Swing de España, nació el 28 de marzo de 1928 en Manises (Valencia). En 1945 se traslada su familia a Madrid, y allí se inicia Lolita musicalmente. Comenzó cantando en el Club Bellas Artes y de ahí fue contratada por la sala de fiestas J'Hay situada en el centro de la capital. Debido a la gran aceptación por parte del público, su contrato se prolonga por tres años. Pronto se destaca por el swing que imprime en sus interpretaciones, y el sello Columbia se interesa por ella. En 1947 lanza su primer disco. En Abril de ese año, se sumó a la lista de mujeres que, como Rina Celi, Mary Merche o las Hermanas Russell, fueron pioneras en grabar boogie-woogie cantado en nuestro país. Poco después repitió con el tema 'Espiritual boogie'. En Octubre de 1947 le llega su primer gran éxito, y uno de los más grandes de su carrera, con el bolero 'Viajera'. En su cara B figuraba el tema 'La Televisión' que entonces no tuvo gran repercusión, pero que hoy día se incluye en los recopilatorios musicales sobre la época por la curiosidad que tiene haberle cantado a ese medio nueve años antes de su primera emisión en España: '...la televisión pronto llegará, yo te cantaré y tú me verás...'.
