*******www.freezerburns**** Introducing Freezerburns +1: a weekly frozen food cooking show where I take one good frozen meal, add 1 fresh ingredient and make it a great meal! Today I'm going to show you how to turn this Newman's Own Italian Sausage Rigatoni Complete Skillet Meal into a great meal using just one fresh ingredient. This meal is an easy-to-prepare skillet meal with quality pasta, slightly spicy sausage, and a tasty sauce. But it isn't perfect. Even though this meal boasts red and yellow bell peppers they are small and basically nonexistent.
Today's +1 is the green pepper. First cut the green pepper in large chunks. A large green pepper is enough for this skillet meal which serves 2. I add a little bit of olive oil to a pan and saute the fresh green peppers until they soften and caramelize a bit. At the same time I prepare the skillet meal as directed. Add them together and it is "Get in my belly" time! A good frozen meal made great with the addition of one ingredient: the green pepper.
The green pepper adds a crunchy texture, more flavor, and more freshness to the meal. And by only adding $1 and 5 minutes to the cook time, it's a no-brainer.
