Last week I went to my first Affiliate Summit (West) in Las Vegas and my feeling coming home were rather mixed. I went with little expectation and came back with much the same feeling. On a good note, I found it interesting to meet so many successful affiliates all doing very different things. I got to speak with Missy Ward (co-owner of Affiliate Summit) for awhile and met a handful of people who knew me as "TheWebReviewer".
On a down-note, I really went there to meet potential JV partners and affiliates to help promote NetWebVideo for its upcoming relaunch and really did not find many people who were interested or supported this niche.
I thought the vendors were dominated by CPA lead companies, and so much "networking" was taking part within the exhibit that it made it difficult getting anywhere to talk to anyone.
Next year, I will return. I will go more prepared, though, with the expectation of learning and meeting people rather than have a self-serving agenda. (Who knows, maybe I will have my own booth next year for NetWebVideo?)
