Srikumar shares a Native American anecdote about the conflict of light and dark within us all — the dog who is loving and kind, versus the wolf who is violent and malicious.
In each of us we balance these elements — the light and the dark. We have a choice to feed the wolf or to feed the dog. In other words, to nurture the light to develop higher consciousness, or, to nurture the dark.
While modern politics seems inherently divisive, there is still a responsibility by those who are popular to bring out the best in others.
This idea is relevant to all leaders, from CEO’s to elected officials in government. We must seek individuals who unequivocally “feed the dog,” in themselves and in others. We look for leaders who are open-minded; who foster unity, equality, and indivisibility; who create an environment where positive emotions are easily created.
