Karan Johar is all set to remake Amitabh Bachchan starrer blockbuster, Agneepath. While he had to pay an astronomical amount to buy the rights of the Hollywood blockbuster Stepmom, which he is remaking in Hindi, he does not need to buy the rights to remake Agneepath as it is his home production.
Karan has approached Hrithik Roshan to step in to Amitabh's shoes. It seems Karan has been planning to remake Agneepath but he was waiting for the right time. Now, he is confident that his company, Dharma Productions, can make multiple films at the same time. The film will be directed by Karan Malhotra, who Karan thinks is one of his most promising assistants. While some changes will be made in the script to give it a contemporary feel, Karan does not want to change any dialogue as he is very confident of the dialogue in the original Agneepath.
His late father, Yash Johar had produced the 1990 Amitabh Bachchan-Mithun Chakraborty starrer, which was directed by the late Mukul Anand. Amitabh had won a National Award for his performance in Agneepath.
