Family vacations can truly be some of the most memorable events in your lives. And I don't mean because Billy burnt down the Ramada Inn.
Memory making is an important aspect of your trip. Have the little monsters keep a scrapbook. They can cut pictures out of brochures and paste them in, keep ticket stubs, have new friends sign their books. Even young children can color or draw things to represent what they have seen on the trip.
A good activity for long road trips with family is to write down the names of your children's favorite songs on separate pieces of paper. Mix them up in a small bag and have the kids take turns pulling slips out of the bag. Everyone in the car has to sing the song that's written on the paper. Destroy the slips of paper after each song is sung or you'll hear it sixty million times on one trip.
When traveling in the car or on an airplane, a great entertainer is re-usable stickers. Your children can stick and re-stick them on the windows. Also, lollipops are good for ear aches during airline flights.
