Model No: 190 The main problem about a railway analysis is detection of cracks in the structure. If these decencies are not controlled at early stages they might cause huge economical problems affecting the rail network (unexpected requisition of spare parts, handling of incident and/or accidents).
This project uses a microcontroller from 8051 family. It is an 8-bit 40 pin microcontroller. The main objective of this project is to develop detecting the crack in the railway track and alert the near by station. Two rails forming the part of the track are made using a pair of discontinuous wire which biases a pair of transistors being powered from DC source. The discontinuation is sorted by a jumper wire to simulate healthy track condition.
Removing the jumper results in transistors being cut off thus delivering logic one to the microcontroller. The program thereafter takes control to send SMS message through GSM modem interface through MAX232 to the microcontroller. An LCD is also interfaced with the MC to display the status of GSM and the crack. The proposed model is able to recognize the cracks thus providing security for railways.
The power supply consists of a step down transformer 230/12V, which steps down the voltage to 12V AC. This is converted to DC using a Bridge rectifier. The ripples are removed using a capacitive filter and it is then regulated to +5V using a voltage regulator 7805 which is required for the operation of the microcontroller and other components.
