Model No: 202 This project proposes automatic detection of human and Energy saving room architecture to reduce standby power consumption and to make the room easily controllable with an IR control of a home appliance.
The proposed auto detection of human is done using the IR sensor to indicate the entering of the persons. Microcontroller continuously monitors the infrared receiver. When any object pass through the IR receiver then the IR rays falling on the receiver are obstructed, this obstruction is sensed by the microcontroller.
This system is used to turn ON a load whenever the IR ray is blocked by an object, person etc. A 38 KHz signal is generated by 555-timer which is feed to the IR diode which in turn produces an IR ray of 38Khz.This ray is received by tuned IR receiver continuously. Whenever there is an obstacle to the IR ray the receiver sends a signal to the microcontroller which actuates a load, from its output.
The power supply consists of a step down transformer 230/12V, which steps down the voltage to 12V AC. This is converted to DC using a Bridge rectifier. The ripples are removed using a capacitive filter and it is then regulated to +5V using a voltage regulator 7805 which is required for the operation of the microcontroller and other components.
